Hey all,
So, I'm having some issues and wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same. Here's a timeline:
8/30: Supposedly my JLUR order was put in.
9/4: I put my deposit down, was given a receipt and told that my sales person would be in contact the following day
9/5: Asked my sales person to send me my confirmation/VON when he gets it. I was advised "It doesn't have one yet, his boss imagines Friday (9/7) it will get generated".
9/6: Got a message from my sales person: "Jeep has a restriction on the Rubicon right now and that's why it wasn't getting picked up when we ordered it. We have an Allocation meeting Wed (9/12) to find out if they're opening back up availability. My boss and I are going to make something work for you, we just have to wait until Wed now to find out the next step. I'm very sorry! The factory has its own schedule. "
I then asked if there will be a delay or my order will end up as a 2019, to which he said they don't know yet and are working on trying to figure it out. If they aren't taking any more orders for 2018, they will get me the same one for 2019. Specifically, he said they are showing the v6 Manual trans Rubicon is not available right now. They seem to think it will be opening back up again this week though because the factory has done this on/off thing a few times with different options already.

So now, I wait in limbo until Wed 9/12. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone here have any sort of knowledge about the factory and their practices?

EDIT: To be clear, this isn't an "Is my salesman screwing me around" post, because I am fairly certain they are being as honest as possible with me- I just don't know if they have all the information, and I'm trying to understand this process myself. I would really like to have my new Jeep, tires on the ground and rolling by the end of November (Before the snow gets here) and that is why I did order so early, just in case delays like this came up. Obviously, I'm getting a little nervous right now and it is frustrating having to wait even longer because the sooner I get my new Jeep, the sooner I can start my build and (most importantly) have a vehicle that I can safely transport my family in on the regular.

I am also waiting for the 2019s to open. 2018s are closed. The last I check the only thing that could be ordered were 2.0L turbos (this was a week ago).
I hope you werr not trying to order Mojito. Also keep in mind the earliest you would possibly have a 2019 delivered would be December.
Search for threads on 2019 there is already a lot of discussion.

Damn., I wonder when Ordering closed. Had a buddy looking to get a JLR Mojito, he lives in FL and was told the same thing.

Used Autotrader and the closest Punk'n JLUR with my specs might be 167mi away, but is a much higher price. Also, all the info isnt filled out on Autotrader (looks like a general copy/paste) so if it's Soft top only, that means the next closest one would be 600mi away, same deal. Ugh. I should have ordered when I first started researching back in June..

Also: @Scott from NC - is that December delivery timeframe you quoted from an official factory source? Or based on last year's orders? Or just an estimate? I was told 8-10 weeks.

Production for 19s won’t start until sometime in October - 8 weeks would put you in December.

Not necessarily. Depends when your build is actually scheduled and built. My SRT was built on the first day of production for the '17 model year. I was burning fuel three weeks later.
Tried to order a '18 Sahara last week. Seemed the cold weather package prevented the system from taking the order. Will be ordering a '19 this week.

It looks like they will start taking orders on the 12/13th but will not start production until the end of October. So most likely December is an optimistic guess.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I want to order 2019 Rubicon also and have read that they start production at the end of Oct and are usually 6 to 8 weeks out. I will be traveling at the time it will most likely arrive at the dealership. So I am thinking that I will order it just after the first of the year and have it by spring. Maybe some more of the bugs will be worked out. So until then I will just order the upgrades that I plan to put on the JLUR.

I was at a dealer in Socal yesterday and they were only able to order JLs with the turbo. They had mentioned wednesday this week the 2019 ordering opens which jives with what others are saying here.

Give me the VIN and I could pull up a window sticker for it...

Just a quick update: talked to my contact at the dealer, my Jeep will be a 2019 JLUR, Manual trans, LED group, Trailer tow, and Dual tops. I was told 6-8 weeks from order date, which was 9/13. Advised I should have a VON/VIN within 3 business days, so I'll check back with them on Tuesday 9/16. Once that is in hand, Time to update all the sale prices on my Jeep and start planning on things that need to be removed.

Are they honoring the 2018 price?

I believe so. In his text message to me, he said it was going to be the same thing, would only be $995+ if I wanted to add LED group, which I did.

I hate to tell you this but there’s no way they’re going to hit that timeline. 2019s don’t start getting built until the end of October. You’re likely looking at 6 to 8 weeks from then.
