I installed the mishimoto intercooler pipe and a turbosmart valve. Maybe not a big change, but got rid of a lot of plastic that is just going to fail over time with all that heat.

-ESPECIALLY you 2.0 guys. The 2.0 will pull 10 plus degrees of timing on 87 octane, causing extreme heat build up. I datalogged one this past week locally, and regularly saw -5 to -10 degrees spark advance at cruise, which is insane. It genuinely hurt my feelings. LOL
That doesn't sound like a healthy engine. What were the "cruising" conditions?

I had an 06 GTO with the LS2 and I opened up the hood scoops. You could see the heat mirage escaping while sitting still. Good modification.

OP, have you tuned any customers with AWE exhaust? Any idea if the one I screenshotted below could help lower temps šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Does it come with extra insulation like their V8 system ? Have a dog ? ….. ā€œI don’t want poor Ava to cook back there, the floor gets hot, damn hotā€. 😁

AWE makes quality systems and I believe their mufflers are straight through design so that’s a good option.

Tuning should come first before spending big bucks on exhaust though. There is no better mod for your money.

Highway speeds light throttle to tip in to gently pass someone I saw anywhere from -3 to -10 degree spark advance under 2500 RPM. A huge heat generator. I saw this on my own 2.0 when I had one as well when I would try 87 octane. Have you ever logged one before? It’s pretty eye opening.

True, but a free flowing exhaust will support a tune. Would you not be able to get a little more out of the tune with one installed ?

Yep in most cases, a good flowing exhaust gets hot exhaust gases out of the combustion chamber easier which can allow for a tad more timing sometimes. But an exhaust only won’t have any seat of the pants difference.

I chose my ā€˜25 Jeep with the 3.6, didn’t want to deal with turbo 4 issues but I know that’s highly debatable. With the high compression ratio of the PUG I’ve always filled up with 93 octane. My Jeep with 4.56 gears and 8 spd auto never feels underpowered. I installed the Baxter adapter around 1,000 miles or so. Engine is very quiet on start up. I run Mobil One ESP 0W30 changed at 500, 1000 and now every 3K miles. I’m at around 9,4XX miles now. The only complaint I have is the slight stumble between 2,500 to 3,000 RPM once the engine is heat soaked.

I know, Ca resident has also installed ā€œno tune requiredā€ ported to 88 mm TB and ported stock intake manifold. Very expensive including AWE exhaust for ~20 Hp. But invisible to smog check . According to MMX the TB alone adds ~12 extra to a tuned otherwise stock engine. (14 for both untuned) … Hoping for a good ā€œapprovedā€ tune that adds enough to justify cost too.

Yep. That stumble is engine going into high lift. No way around that on factory tune.

At least you figured out the cause. I appreciate your input on here as someone independent from Stellantis.

I've done some real-time monitoring, but so far in somewhat limited circumstances. I get absolutely 0 timing pull during my hilly commute at ambient temps of 70 degrees or lower. I occasionally see a half to one and a half degrees when temps are a little warmer. I get 0 under light acceleration on the freeway. I'll soon see how the Summer and longer trips go.
