Mopar extended warranty and the 392 - does it work?

It's my understanding the MOPAR extended warranties being sold online are official stellantis/mopar warranty and follows the vin and works at any stellantis dealer with the appropriate deductible (usually $100). Right now it's about $2500 for 8year/100k miles.

Has anyone had issues with the 392 and obtaining warranty work? I'd like to keep a new 392 for at least that long so I think it would be helpful but not if they're going to nit pick and try to deny everything. I understand the motor has 6 month oil changes but everything else should be relatively normal mx schedule to keep warranty?

I've dealt with dealers that would charge "diagnostic fees" just to repair something under the factory warranty so I'm just trying to avoid the slime ball dealer stuff.

if it is indeed a warranty issue you should not be charged a diagnostic fee. if it turns out not a warranty issue than yes seems normal. one thing about the mopar flex care or max care is your rig can not be lifted unless it was a mopar lift at time of purchase by selling dealer..it kind of sux because who doesn't lift their rigs.....

I plan to mod mine, engine mods. So I don’t think it would be worthwhile for me.

There is a forum member that had an issue with their Sky One Touch and the repair would have cost more than the cost of the warranty, so there are good sides to getting one.

Like all insurance, only you can decide if it is the right gamble to buy or not buy.

I have not heard of Stellantis trying to deny coverage just to get out of a claim. Only denied due to extenuating circumstances that were outside the warranty requirements. So be sure you understand your obligations with the warranty.

Already about $400 ahead, including the $100 deductible over the cost of the 8/85/100 Max Care….. for this first claim.

The plastic track end of one of the many cross bars. …. After being presumably repaired I started getting wind noise, spotted the top being stuck up tight from below in one spot, it was another Plastic Pin, but they managed to get it properly back in place. (so far) Down to 3 years 2 months Max Care and getting mighty gun shy about using it after warranty expiration. ….

I voided the 3/36k warranty on my newer JL within 24 hours of picking it up at the dealership with the installation of a 2-1/2" lift and 35s. And like an aggressive cancer, that lift morphed into all kinds of other mods I had planned and continue to install. I've had more fun with the Jeep in the last year than the extended warranty allows.

But, going in, I had no pretensions about using an extended warranty, or even the factory warranty for that matter (who knows, luckily I have a reasonable dealer). But it was a choice I made; not the dealer for me.

fortunately the factory 3/36000 or 5/60000 is not affected like the maxcare/flexcare.. I have had plenty of factory warranty done no question asked. I am on jeep 5 and all have been lifted and bigger tires right away all installed myself and there never was a question about it. not sure why they have to be that way on maxcare etc.

You are totally correct. I've never had any 3/36 warranty work declined either. But there is plenty of discussion about just that on this forum. My own experience, including recent TSB updates from my local dealer, is meh, pretty standard stuff. They don't bat an eye, even when I took my modded 2018 for a new tranny before 5k miles on the Odo. They sell modded Jeeps straight off the showroom floor, for goodness sake. And the service guys would rather talk about the cool things I've done to my Jeep rather than identify ways to void my warranty.

And your comment about Maxcare is well-founded. I will not be buying the Maxcare coverage. That's $2500 I will use on additional mods.

For a start: Nobody, not even Mopar/Stellantis sells an extended warranty for a Jeep. They are all service policies no matter what they tell you. Get a copy of the contract, read and understand what it does and doesn't cover. Then decide if it's worth the $$ for you. Remember, the contracts are written by attorneys to make money for the sellers.
