Besides the obvious recovery gear. 😄

If you could only recommend one item that every Jeep owner should have on every trip, whether it's for towing, camping, off-roading, road trips, or daily driving, what would it be and why?

Curious to see what makes everyone's must-have list.

If you travel anywhere without cell service, Garmin InReach, Starlink, or similar.
Not really required anymore if you have a relatively new phone. Many of them can send emergency messages via satellite. Both my wife's iPhone and my Pixel can.

That would be or similar I guess. I upgraded my iPhone for that very reason. However on one occasion I needed to make contact to have a tow truck meet me at the bottom of the mountain once I got towed by a Jeep back from 10k to 2k feet. I walked I circles like an idiot for about 10 minutes with my arm stretched high overhead, following the prompts to connect with no luck. I was able connect to someone’s Starlink almost immediately. I believe in always having a plan B.

I did the same but have experienced as you have spotty connections. However, just an FYI, Apple is reportedly negotiating with SpaceX to integrate Starlink's direct-to-cell connectivity feature into the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models. Not sure at this point if it would be worth upgrading when the iPhone comes out, especially if you have a relatively new iPhone, but it’s good to know. I’d prefer to have the integration into one package on my iPhone rather than as a backup have to spring for a separate sat phone. But, maybe Apple is negotiating for rights and that would mean no hardware upgrades so it may be retroactive to older models (14 on).

Starlink Roam on their standby plan is cheap and although you technically have to be stopped to use it we discovered if you’re wheeling at low speeds it stays connected.

Please excuse my ignorance but is that direct starlink to cell connectivity or to the mobile starlink antenna? The reason I ask is, I believe that with iOS 18.3 starlink connectivity is supported but with only a couple of carriers; Verizon and T-mobile I believe. I do not have either of those. But, the good news is if some carriers support the capability, the others will get on board eventually.

A fire extinguisher.

God, the number of people mentioning Guns - you would think that most of you live in Iran or something. Are you really that scared? A good knife is so much more useful..

It's plainly obvious you don't live near a Mexico border

As wacky as this sounds, I’ve always traveled with a few towels tucked under the seat regardless of the vehicle I was driving. Another thing that comes in handy is a good quality USB rechargeable flashlight. I recently started carrying an O-Clip Ultra made by OLight. It even matches the color of my Jeep 🤣
