Just received and installed this rack. Exactly what I was looking for and very pleased.

it sat in Belgium for a week but arrived in a reasonable timeframe.

Plan is FAK, blanket, jacket, and bag with jumper cables, shackles, & gloves on top all secured to rack. Adding Quik Fist weapon mount underneath rack for lever action rifle for hunting and camping trips.
If only they made this for us 2-door folks!

Just upgraded my rear cargo area and installed an adjustable cargo rack and tailgate table- I like how clean/organized it all is now. A few months ago I was just tossing things back there and it was driving me nuts.

So if you guys were to change anything about your rear shelf setups, what would it be? I am in the process of designing some new storage goodies for the back and loved all the feedback here. There's a lot to learn.

I'd add a locking box to it. I DIY'd a lockable ammo can. I like the AAL locking storage box but I didn't want to spend $500+.

Mine will change as the seasons change, or my door situation changes.

This is the 1st year that I will be using tube doors.
I usually do full doors from Halloween through April Fool's Day & half doors the following 7 months.

I just swapped on the rear tubes and removed the plastic a few days ago. Here is the thread about the Tube doors:

With this in mind, along with the fact that we can get up to 60 MPH winds AND my need to carry winter survival gear until April, I have had to add a 3rd waterproof box in the back. The obvious reasons are so that my gear stays protected from the snow, rain and wind - which would blow my gear out.

I normally carry the 2 small Storm Cases you can see in front of the larger one, which fit where I did the 2/3 seat delete. This 3rd box needs to be bigger to be able to handle the bulky clothes & other winter gear.

Once April hits, I will remove the big box and just have the 2 smaller.

Aonar,

What are you carrying in the three boxes. Appears box #3 is warm clothes and blanket, correct?

Always interested in others priorities.

Thanks

Nice work. I always love seeing solid home-made solutions more than overpriced crap with the manufacturer's logo all over it. Well done!

I was looking for a clean rotopax mounting solution.

2 door with back seat removed. I use a Hooke off road mid height shelf. I have the dometic fridge mounted on a slide mounted to the bottom of the shelf. 2 bison off road shelf mounts for Forerunner expanding chairs. They also fit a 2 gallon rotopak water container. I have a Dee Zee Molle panel on the drivers side rear window. I am using multiple Overland outfitters Zip and go bags. Matt Trax fit into a large canvas chair bag that stores on top of the roll bar.

Are you still happy with the Hooke Road shelf in your 2-door?

How much space is there between the backs of the front seats, and the shelf?

I am happy with the Hooke road shelf. It is very sturdy. There is at least a foot between the back of the front seats and the shelf. I am out on a trip in the Power Wagon and can't give you an ecact figure.

I quite liked the look of this installation and copied it. Works brilliant! I bolted my plywood to the front most 4 lugged hooks. Also modified the in floor storage lid to still open when the pack out plate is installed.

I'm going to attempt this same setup but with the sliding rails so I can slide the whole thing forward and back. How much room do you have between the top of the 2-drawer packout and the backseat?
