Hello! I just picked up Rubicon take offs and the owner was not sure if the TPMS was on them. Is there a way to identify the TPMS on the JL?

If they are stock wheels and tires, the tire shop probably just installed new ones on his new set...otherwise they’d have to take the stock tires off the stock rims and then pull the valve stem (TPMS is built into it) and then re-mount the stock tires. And then install the old valve in the new wheels and then mount the new tires. That’s a lot of work...but I suppose they could have done it... you should be able to take them to a tire shop and they should be able to scan for them...

Stop by any tire shop, big or small and in about 10 seconds, they can tell you if there is a functional TPMS sensor on the wheel. They use a hand scanner to do this. Actually many small local automotive shops have a hand scanner. You can buy a hand scanner of your own on amazon and elsewhere for $20+-.

Now, whether thtt/those TPMS sensors will work with your JL... well, you will need to install to find out. Doing this is easier then accessing the TPMS sensor and getting the #'s off of it so you can see if it is compatible with your JL.

By the way, usually when you find Wrangler pull offs, they will either have the TPMS sensors on them or you will find them with no stem at all on the wheel. I think you have a real good chance at having TPMS sensors and ones that do work with the JL.

Look in the member market place. Some come with the tpms and some don't. Mine didn't and had valve stems in them aired up.
