Ted, on the subject of guns/ammo, thanks for the Sig P365 recommendation. I went out with my youngest son yesterday shopping (the gun aficionado in the family). Thought I'd lean towards Glocks but they all felt like I was holding a square block for a grip, P365 felt much better. It was our 36 year wedding anniversary yesterday. Loaded my wife in the Jeep and cruised back roads, primarily dirt roads for most of the day. We did stop off at a gun store and buy 10mm ammo, actually found a large sale that was open on a Tuesday way out on a dirt road. Bought some new shop rages and Carla bought to skirt for about $2. Eventually ended up at REI in Grand Rapids were Carla scored a nike pair or Altra trail running hiking shoes for %70 off.
What a great day. We finished it up with a four mile hike at one of our favorite local trails.
Narrowed it down to the P365, P226/9 and the Walther PDP series (Walther felt good to). Scheduled a range shoot to figure out which one, P365 is the favorite so far (although being a traditional person the curved trigger on the 226/229 looks better
I know my wife would not be thrilled with either but the gun shop showed me the S&W Shield EZ which was nice for something small and easy to handle so I even have her interested. I was sure the most I could ever get her comfortable with was a Byrna non-lethal pistol.
Oh, the guy also showed me some Kimbers - beautiful weapons but they are proud of the work at $2100
