Too bad you don't like the JTs, because legitimately the 2 Jeep solution (JL for trails, JT for people/thing hauling/light trails) is a solution I enjoy. And given how slowly they've been selling, I'm sure you could get one for a song.

Oh yeah, even in Colorado there are great deals on those long ass JT's. I have to say I would have gotten the Nacho Mojave a couple of years back but haven't been tempted again since.

In my case, if I had a second vehicle it will be a commuter. (Mazda CX-30) I may well move to that direction and resign myself to wheeling alone or only with the wife or only with Dad.

I'm just saying, put mine in for kiddo and I can still fit all my tools, recovery gear, and air stuff - and with room to spare:

Oh, and @Krondor - there's even enough room behind the front seats that I can stand my 6'2" tall butt up, hunched over, and do up her car seat straps. And I can climb in there without a stool or anything, despite the height. AND putting the seat in only when you wanna take extra passengers both satisfies your need for tinkering and taking things on and off, and allows you to remove the seat for winter weight removal.
