Let's do a little comparison.
Inner circle of Raleigh, according to Google right now.

Jeep Wrangler JL Jeep humor waiting room ( ** NO POLITICS ** ) 1758735754531-gq

Same scale for Dallas

And now the hellscape that is the inner city of Houston.

Yeah, that area inside the 610 is the dark place.

I25 between Castle Rock and Lone Tree is weird. The rest of the state isn't bad about left lane campers but for some reason everyone just shuts off their brain on that stretch. I've seen people move to the left as they're coming up on that stretch and move back as soon as they get through it.

Weirdest thing I have ever seen.

Unfortunately, it's my daily commute route.
I followed john somewhere last time i was in CO and I did ask him if he was one of those left lane campers, he had an excuse, but I didn't buy it.

49 back in Concord was a 4 lane divided highway with a speed limit of 55. 5 miles of people just sitting next to each other driving 50 EVERY FUCKING DAY does something to a man. And concord is definitely not a city by any stretch of the imagination.

85 now is a dream compared to that living nightmare of a road.

Now imagine if EVERY road in the state was like that.
lol no
It’s just 25 where people lose their minds for some reason.
North of the Lincoln exit where the speed limit is 65 everyone wants to go 80.
South of the Lincoln exit where the speed limit is 75 everyone wants to do 50.
470? Great.
85? Great.
225? An affront to mankind.
70? shitty east of 470 and anytime there’s a remote chance of skiing to the west.
86? amazing.

I was vehemently not in the left lane, thanks.
You just wanted to know why I wasn’t passing people.

My little 1.6liter shitbox outside might cause an accident is why

That would be so nice. There are 2 roads north out of Mckinney. One is the 4 lane each way highway with everyone going 80, the other is a 1 lane each way that has so many cars on it the max speed is maybe 5 mph. There are no other options.
I hate when small roads become main thoroughfares. Ours isn't that bad yet, but we've got one that's a feeder for the highway that runs between Efland and Cedar Grove (conveniently, the road name is Efland-Cedar Grove Rd) that has a left turn onto US 70 about a mile, mile and a half before it hits the combined I85/I40. US 70 is a 2 lane road at this point, but sees a decent amount of traffic. Problem is, that intersection with Efland-Cedar Grove has no left turn lanes. If you catch that shit wrong and someone's skittish about getting into traffic they can have you backed up 3/4 of a mile or more from the intersection on the regular.

No I remember living in NE and the bustling metropolis that is Alma where my folks live. I drive on roads with higher populations than where my folks live.

My commute to work is from my bedroom to my office...about 30 steps. A heavy traffic day is having to walk around a dog and cat. GOD...I love working from home!!!
It sounds fantastic until I remember that I’d just fall asleep sitting there

You weren't in the far left lane, but you weren't in the right lane either, not passing people. :)

So not an inner city, but this lone red spot in the NW quadrant was the absolute bane of my commute. It was my daily dark spot. It was either going to add 10 min or an hour to my commute, no in between. This one spot, every single time. It's 2PM in the afternoon and it's already red. It drops from the 4 lane each way to the 2 lane each way right there at the 15-501 interchange with I40. And every fucking day people either merge like idiots or merge like idiots and then crash. Super short stretch of road, but I've spent up to 2 hours stuck there between exits (thankfully that kind of time addition is rare).
