Its not the exhaust/engine noise. Its the high frequency road/tire noise of 50k+ vehicles going 80mph.
I guess that noise just never bothered me.

Though, thinking on it, the one thing that did get on my nerves was when a semi would pass and like suddenly and violently change the wind direction. I didn't like that.

Them going past me is just as bad. I love open air driving, but not going to risk hearing damage for it.
I remember I had the safari top up but the soft windows off, and doors on for a trip with a buddy one day.
He wasn’t the biggest fan of wind so we left the windows rolled up in the front seats and it was so much louder than if the windows had been rolled down.
The return trip I didn’t give him a choice 😂

Aloha you Sunrider Flipping Types (a club that I am also a member of, natch)!

Intermittent showers along any drive is my reason. With being in the tropics, there’s going to be a rain shower somewhere along the trip. Of course, you do have the ‘Bubble Effect’ above 30mph or so, but still…

Cheers,
-CM-

So last year when I was able to organize a bunch of volunteering days for trail cleanups a buddy of mine from work came along. Didn't realize but he'd never done like any driving in a Jeep doorless before. Had the doors off and the top in safari mode, and like over an hour of the trip is down I85 towards Charlotte, lots of lanes and a higher speed limit. Never seen someone so frustrated trying to make small talk before lol. Kept shouting over the wind. Like, brother, it's a gorgeous summer day, just relax. Plenty of time for chatting when we're not doing 75.

Keep in mind, I'm in Dallas. I get passed by more people on my commute than the entire population of RTP. Its orders of magnitude more cars going by.

I know. We also had to stand around outside for half an hour this morning, waiting for the movers to show up. The customer was supposed to provide 4 access badges, and didn't.

I'm wearing a long sleeve button up and heavy duty pants from Duluth. Not by choice. Then I see the movers show up and those bastards are wearing shorts.

We actually have about half a million more residents in RTP than in Dallas. Research Triangle - Wikipedia

Dallas - Wikipedia

2 million-ish people across a bunch of cities that have basically sprawled into one. RTP is pretty much on par with Dallas-FW (like the cities proper, not the big census area).

Mornin folks. Officially at the wife's due date today. We'll see how long baby girl wants to keep cooking.
Good luck with the delivery.

It's wild to me that people decide mid-drive to change top state. Like, assess at the beginning before the drive. Change state. Go.

PNW.... We can get sun, rain, sun, snow, sun, hail all in one drive, even if that drive is only 15 minutes long.

Though in reality that's only a few days a year, the rest of the time it rains. 😄

I love my Mini 14. I wanna get the GB reintroduction they did with the stainless folder. The Mini's only about a 2MOA gun with decent ammo, but with irons it's just a hell of a lot of fun to shoot.
I hate the mini-14. it fits me weird.

Recheck your DFW population there. 8.34 million in 2024 and we add 150k+ each year

Dallas has 3000 more people per square mile than the entire RTP
