I noticed this on the way to work randomly and have been hearing it ever since. It sounds like a weird rotational grinding noise.

I replaced brakes and wheel bearings. I also rotated the tires to see if it changed locations and it didnt. I also serviced the diff and the fluid looked normal. It happens in 2h, 4h, 4L. You can hear the noise from about 15mph to about 45mph and then the wind drowns it out.

This is my families only vehicle so I’m kinda stressing out, I ordered a set of chassis ears to see if I can pin point but any ideas would be awesome.

Sucks this has to be my first post.

Sounds like a caliper is hanging up.

Update*
I used chassis ears and determined it’s coming from the driver side rear axle. Any ideas in what to look for?

Jack both rear wheels off the ground and start the jeep and put it in gear to let them turn. Confirm the location of the noise. Pull the wheel and inspect the brake on that side, if nothing is obvious, run it in gear again and listen for the problem. If you can't identify it, remove the brake rotor, check the parking brake. If nothing is obvious, run it in gear again and check to see if the axle rotation causes the noise (bearings?).

Jaked the rear end up and it’s coming from the driver side. with chassis ears on each end of the axle and the pumpkin, It was loudest on driver side.

tried to 12-6 rock to see any play but nothing, no movement or noise

Removed, check and cleaned rotor. Greased slide pins, and adjusted parking brake.

took it on a test drive and still sound remains unchanged.

This is a Dana 35

That’s what I’m thinking but I don’t know how to confirm. I also can’t figure out what bearings the m200 takes
When I've had one go bad, I could hear/feel it when rotating the axle by hand.

I can’t recreate the sound I hear while driving but it sounds gritty and grindy without brakes
Pull that axle. You almost had all of the work done when you pulled the rotor . Just pull the backing plate and slide hammer the axle out. You can use the rotor as a slide hammer with a few lugs.

I would but it’s a Dana 35, I’d have to remove the diff cover and remove the c clip. It’s my only car so I have to get diff fluid first

If your vehicle is a JL and you do in fact have the Dana 35 (m200), there are no c-clips.

I was wondering about whether they revised the 35 as an "Advantek" and deleted the C clips.
