Awww your son is so cute! Love the pics, too funny! Hmmm…🧐 leaning toward RTT however might be a challenge getting my 60 lb pupper in the tent.
I’ll checkout the Roofnest and awning. I’m hoping I can participate in some of the Jeep events when I retire next year so trying to get my Jeep travel ready. Thanks so much for your help. SCS

Took a minute to figure out the one arm dog carry up a ladder technique! If I can help in anyway don't hesitate to DM me!

Next major update!!! New Ushi Chuck trailer built and ships end of week! The video has a test tent to confirm measurements, but I will be using same tent (Roofnext Condor 2 Overland).

I've learned this summer that I'm not a fan of having the RTT on top of Jeep. Once up w awning, etc. you become immobile and when the rest of the gang goes out on trails you are left behind or have to pack everything up. Having a base camp will be nice. The extra storage space will also be welcomed!

In the Midwest we have lots of tight, tree-lined trails, so I wanted something small. The Chuck fits the bill at only 700 pounds!

Your post got me thinking. Last Spring while at Easter Jeep Safari we were out at the fairgrounds checking out the vendors and gear. We were at the American Adventure Lab talking with Brit and his crew. They had their ATK hitched to a 392 and as we were walking around checking it out it made me realize how much gear you could have with you with a good trailer set-up. I've been wanting the ability to carry my CRF450X along at times...hmmm.

Exactly! My RTT has channels for various accessories including cross members that I could mount my kayak to as well. My winter rig is a Lexus GX470 and my son has a Jeep TJR. Having a trailer allows any vehicle to hitch up and go versus transferring a RTT, ton of gear, etc.

UPDATE - I've used my new Ushi Chuck trailer & RTT a dozen or so times over the last few months. It has really been a fantastic build. I'm really enjoying having moved my RTT from the Jeep to the trailer as it allows the flexibility to tow with different vehicles. My 392 hibernates for the winter and now I camp w my GX470.

Thinking forward to the spring and what's next for my Jeep. Honestly, I can't think of much other than spending more time out using it!!!

A few pics from camping late summer to fall (inc my GX)!!!

Absolutely gorgeous build!

I'm also going down the RockKrawler route for my 392 but with 2.5" springs 7075 aluminum arms and Fox 2.5 DSCs

I've been flip flopping between the KMC Grenade Crawlers and the Tank wheels. But seeing your Jeep with the Tank design in satin bronze is absolutely awesome. May have to be a copy cat here lol (my Jeep is black so should match well).

Couple of questions:

1. Are your KMC wheels -15 or -38 offset?
2. Assume ypu have the factory steering box and electric pump? How does it do turning those tires with that wheel offset, particularly aired down offroad?

Thanks!

Hey bud! I think they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - copy away! And ironically, based on your user name, we also copied each other with a 6MT JLUR prior to the 392!!!

I have the -38 offset wheels. I had to as my Rock Krawler coil overs were rubbing the back inside of the tire when at full lock. See pic below.

Stock steering and no issues so far. I only use for light / moderate trails and camping so it doesn't see heavy abuse and I only have 6k miles on it after two years! I'm not in Utah bouncing it off rocks (yet).

Happy to answer any other questions!

Lol! I'll be sure to post pics should I add the Tanks in satin bronze.

Yup I had a 2021 JLUR 6-speed that I built up into an AEV spec with 37 inch KM3 tires, 4.88 gears and a CFII clutch kit with the high inerti flywheel. Was pretty good at rock crawling with the 100:1 crawl ratio 1st gear in 4 lo but I had to absolutely cane it on highwaybinclines when loaded down with gear and passengers. Got old after a while and got the 392. Best Jeep decision I've made hah.

In 2 weeks my NVM 7000 series skids get installed and then the lift and tires later in the summer.

Ironically the 38/13.50r17 Nitto Trail Grapplers are what I'm looking at (seriously not trying to copy you lol).

Guessing you are on the factory 4.56 gears? Do you feel they work well with that tire size and weight. Knowing the power of the 392 I'm sure it will be fine lol.

How about braking? Think I'll eventually do the Teraflex Delta brakes.

Interesting your comments that the RK lift on midarms rides more softly the. the TF long arm kit in your previous JL 6-speed. Testament to the tuning of the RK springs and coilovers!

I've finished the last of the major investments I'm looking to do to my Jeep. You're never ever truly done and I'm sure there are some things I'll tweak / adjust, but for the most part it is just how I want it and now I want to keep putting it to its intended use.

Core upgrades:

2023 Jeep 392 20th anniversary in black
Full wrap with scratch resistant bottom wrap and honeycomb top wrap
Rock Krawler 3.5" Adventure X 'No Limits' kit with coil overs front / spring & strut rear
Nitto MT 38" x 13.5" on KMC bead locks
Adam's HD driveshaft
RCV axles
Artex and Next Venture axle / differential / suspension armor
Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform w Backbone
Roofnext Condor 2 Overland RTT
Kraken air inflation system with ARB twin
Midlands 575 GRMS
Fishbone offroad shelf & accessories
67 Designs dash mounts
Warn Zeon 10K winch
Baja Designs lighting
Lot's of overland gear - Dometic, Alu Box, Jackery, Devos, etc.

Here's a link to the progression from new to a few months ago -->

Let me know if you have any questions!

What is the height of your jeep from ground to top of the hardtop?

Top of the hardtop is about 76" and top of roof rack / awning is about 80". I had a 12" RTT on top of that so raise my garage door from 7' to 8.5'. Decided to go trailer route and put RTT on trailer so don't quite need all of that garage height but nice to have.

Gearing is totally fine. I wouldn't spend the $2k to regear from 4.56. Even when towing a 1000# trailer it is fine.

Brakes are 'ok'. They work and I'm not nervous or concerned about safety at all - but not a bad idea to upgrade. Debating on upgrading OEM components or just going to a new axle set up altogether.... I have RCV's, Arctec trusses/gussetts, and Adam's 1350's so not totally needed...

Thank you for the quick reply, that’s what I was afraid of. Garage Door height is like 6.5’ (need to measure again) on my house in NC. All my garages in CO were 7.5’ I think. At least I never had a problem getting any of my jeeps in them after lifting and 37s. Here in NC my 392 only has around 6” of clearance and I haven’t done anything to it yet. My 3.6MT on 37s and 3” lift barely cleared.

Thanks on the feedback for the brakes.

Good point on the axles. By the time you do brakes, trusses, RCVs, ball joints its getting upwards of 6k+ with labor.

Then again the Currie 392 axle set is $24k:brokenhearted:
