I needed to mount my tablet in my JL, and I bought a Bulletpoint tablet holder and their 20mm ball mount, which threads into one of the grab handle screw slots on the dash. Well, the mount was constantly slipping, and with no loc-tite handy I just screwed the ball mount in a bit...too tight, and stripped the thread. Now the ball just spins when I turn the allen key. I can't get it out and I get get it snug.

Any idea if this is fixable, and if so, how? Like I said, I can't even get the ball out to start considering a repair. Obviously this is just threaded in plastic or some other malleable material, not into aluminum, steel or something I can tap out. Thoughts? Please and thanks.

It’s just decorative and threaded into plastic as far as I can tell. Not sure if it could be expoxied into place with some two part epoxy.

Oh, good! So I can yank it out with vice grips without damaging anything. I agree, JB Weld or something of that nature should probably work. I thought it was going into metal, which frankly it should.

Well I would still use light pressure and unthread it to the best of your ability. Try to cause as little further damage as possible

Yes. I don’t believe it actually holds the handle on anyway. I used this Ram ball that has a center hole with a self threaded screw about 2.5-3 inches long Get a screw that just fits the ball hole. Cover the screw threads with JB weld. Mine has been there 4 years with no issues. Discard the screws that come with the ball. RAM Mounts RAM-B-367U Motorcycle Handlebar Clamp Base with M8 Bolts with B Size 1" Ball. I have one on each side if the grab handle and use it with a ram mount phone holder. It’s rock solid.
