Hello ?
I have a 2022 JLURD
Please see images of the front & rear differential
The rear appears to be either leaking fluid or "sweating" around drain plug
Is this normal?
The front looks normal to me, definitely no signs of any issue from looking outside
Btw, never been Offroad. Beach & Pavement princess. The differentials have never been serviced or touched by me.
32,000 miles
Thanks

That's nothing to worry about... Ongoing .... Just monitor the diameter of that moisture. Doubt you will see the area get bigger in diameter..

You'll be using new thread sealer when you get around to doing your diff fluid changes and your transfer case fluid change.

If you want, you can remove the fill plug and redo the thread sealer on the plug now... but I would not bother.

Thanks for the fast reply ?
I'm constantly fresh water hosing the Jeep down after every beach trip, even underneath
Noticed that while giving her a look over, definitely had me concerned, especially since that drain plug looks like it's been unscrewed, showing the factory thread sealant. I thought it should be flush
Definitely had me concerned
Much appreciated again ?

Btw, I'm always looking for anything draining/dripping on my garage floor, I've never seen anything in that area, underneath the differential. So, maybe I'm just a worry wart or nervous nellie ?
Will continue to monitor diameter of area.
Thanks again ?

Looking at pics with cellphone. I did not spot that plug is out a tad

Consider tightening the plug if it gives you peace of mind.. And, again monitor the diameter of the moisture.

Or ... remove plug, check fluid level and put plug with new sealant back in..

IF it was leaking significantly, you would see more then what you are seeing..

When are you going to do diff fluid change??

Thanks, i thought that plug looked slightly "out"
Which I thought was unusual and seeing that "wet spot" around made me concerned
Regarding piece of mind...
Since it's under warranty, I'm going to take it to my local dealer/tech that I trust
Have them tighten & inspect.
Regarding Fluid change? Since she's a pavement princess, I thought around 50,000 miles was a good time to drain & fill the diffs. Your thoughts?

Well, to me, at 32,000 miles your JL is overdue for diff fluid change frt. and rear. ... "pavement princess" or not..... and it seeing no towing and it having an easy life lets say.... Again, it's overdue for fluid changeout.

My guess is when you take it to your dealership Service Dept. to "tighten & inspect", they will probably be wanting to sell you a diff fluid service..

Anyway, do know that it takes little know how or skill to do the deed yourself. Both diffs can be done in about 30 mins. total time. Will cost you about $62 to do yourself. Dealer will want close to 4 times that $ amt. to do the deed probably.

Interesting. I didn't think service was needed so soon. The owners manual mentions no service needed @ 32,000. Check fluid levels only.
And you're right, pavement princess, no towing, easy life, quite frankly, my Jeep lives better than me. Lol
Regarding wanting to sell me differential service
I expect no less from any dealership service department to sell me any additional services
It happened with my Honda as well.
However, I do trust my local tech & service advisor. Especially after the HPFP replacement & Main Battery replacement. They were great to work with. We are definitely on same page, communication has been excellent when I have visited, which hasn't been often.
Lastly, thanks to folks like you, this forum and the many videos available, I have watched the differential service and it does look fairly simple job.
Thanks much ?

Don't waste your time taking it to a dealer. Get a 3/8 socker wrench and put on there and give it a 1/2 a turn. There should be minimal resistance. I think the torque spec is in inch pounds instead of foot pounds, so just make sure it's not lose. Will take you longer to get the wrench out of the tool box than to
do the work.
