I just stopped by the local stealership and test drove a JLUR. It confirmed a few things for me...

  • My decision not to get "leather" seats was a good one. The cloth seats are quite comfy and nicely embroidered/stitched.
  • The steering in the JL is vague and does drift a bit. Surprisingly it was worse at slower speeds than at freeway speeds. Could've been over-inflated tires. (Won't stop me from buying as I'll write it off to "A Jeep Thing")
  • Wind noise with the 3 piece hardtop is quite noticeable at freeway speeds. Hopefully the upgraded sound system will drown it out. (Won't stop me from buying as I'll write it off to "A Jeep Thing")
I'm still going to buy one!
My last car was darn quiet...even at highway plus speeds...no creaks/rattles/anythings! So my HT JLUR is louder, but I was expecting worse. The soft top sounds like a window cracked, but somehow less annoying. Just IMO opinion.

I suppose what surprised me the most was that the complaint threads picked apart the JL and how truly insignificant the ‘issues’ are. Of course people have had issues and I’m not discounting the people that ended up with lemons. The nitpicking of the ESS (didn’t really notice), the noise, the wiggle in steering, I found these ‘issues’ to truly be a Jeep thing. So, I’m just happily driving my quiet, kickass Lagertha:)
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!! You gotta know what you are buying... a wonderful, awesome, JEEP!!! Sure they aren't sports cars or luxury SUV's. They are fukn JEEPS!

I get it. Essentially things rust themselves together and/or deteriorate.
Seriously Gilbert next week? NOW I'm interested! At a minimum for a JL photo opportunity!!
I have Thursday and Friday off, so I am considering driving up to Gilbert to check out the park, its supposed to be rad. :like::jk:

Yeah, I'd describe the hardtop noise the same way. I even asked the salesman "are all the windows up?"

Some folks here had an issue with hard top wind noise. I think a remedy for some was a slight tweak to front windshield bolt, or something like that? Just wondering if you're hearing normal noise, or if it had something going on.

My hearing could also be a little off too, lol.

I hate holding the SS button in rather than just pushing it and releasing. I need to get on with my life and not labor over holding that button in for a half hour.

I hear wind moving through cracks quite often, so I wasn't put-off by it. :bandit:

I dont follow ???

you can't push the ESS button after starting jeep and will omit the start stop until you shut it off

or you can just get use to it

Right on! I will say that how slow she is surprised me. I don’t mind though, I’ve been known to have a lead foot. I need a bit of chill in my life. No hiccups with shifting...it’s a great transmission:)
