This is the "Via del Sale" (The Salt Road), one of the roads once used to bring salt from the Mediterranean Sea to the Piedmont hinterland.

It is an easy path, without difficult passages, only really narrow in some spots, the road develops on the ridge between Piedmont (Italy), France and Liguria (Italy). Booking is required as only a limited number of cars are allowed to ride the trail each day.

Pics are from July 2022.

Looks sweet, I think I’d pay up my life insurance and take a WRX up there?

LOVE it over there, wife and I talked about moving there or to Spain. When we go we are usually over there for at least a month at a time. Got to get back soon.

Here is one for you. Several years ago were in Rome and when to the Sistine Chapel. There was a window in the stairwell and look down into the parking lot and what do I see. TJ

Have you been to North West Italy? Piedmont? Valle d'Aosta? Liguria?
If you like good food and good wine, Piedmont is at the top with quality wines and landscapes, the Langhe area is like the Napa Valley or Sonoma.
From Turin you can reach Monte Carlo, France, Switzerland, Milan with 2 to 3 hours drive.

Been all over. Wife would go over and she would vaca about 4-6 mo and I would fly over and meet her in London or Rome or somewhere in Spain usually Barcelona. Get a rental car and just travel, propobally have been there as we travel N - S, the we head of to Spain kick around there then out to the Ibiza.

We do need to get back to traveling again...

Milian, Ohh do I love that. That is where you can see all those eye watering young fashion models hung on the arms of those old Russians with $$$$$.

When I there several years ago I saw this in the MB window and I FELL IN LOVE, Silver with Red interior. They hit the market in the US at $250k +/- a bit. But a few years ago we have an exotic car dealer in my town and they had one just like this one for $135k. They had stopped making them and the market dried up as the new models came out. So I offer $125k for it and he said he would do it. I went home and talked with the wife and she said, where in the hell are you going to put it, the garage is full the barn is full and we live out in the country on this ranch. So I said I guess you are right, I would barely drive to begin with.

Should have jumped, the collectors market is now grabbing them and they are going thru the roof $$$$. I would give up my Jeep for this.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing, we don't see nearly enough pictures from over there!
Are those hood vents open all the way through? If they are, can you see a part number on the bottom?

Belissimo! Mi aspetto è divertente guidare la tua Jeep sulle Alpi. Trovi che la tua Jeep si enorme rispetto alle strade?
Ciao,

your Italian is very good!

Driving in the alps is really wonderful. I'm not a Great Plains boy, I can't live without mountains on the horizon.
The Jeep is not too big for our roads, of course, it depends on the trail you want to drive.
The biggest problem is the authorization to access the unpaved roads. Many are located within national parks boundaries or access is restricted to lot owners.

This year I want to try again to reach the Colle del Sommelier, last year I got two flats tires on the way to the summit at 9,850 ft. It’s right on the Italy-France border.

Pics below are from the road to Sommelier

The hood vents are the same fake-hood-vents of the US version. If you cut them open underneath you will have water dripping right over your battery, as usual, ?

I thought they looked a little different than mine and I swear I read on here that European vents were functional. I guess you've answered that though lol

This is awesome. I've always wanted to have my Jeep in southern Italy with the quality of the roads. I was in Basilicata last summer visiting my in-law's hometown and took a route to visit the Vulture wine region where my Rubicon would have come in real handy!

Grazie mille!
