Depends how much you are willing to pay. But a good budget kit is mopar. I really like my JKS 2.5” kit with adjustable control arms etc. but I personally am planning on going to long arm lift with 3.5” springs

2nd that! OME is incredible!

But the OP presents an impossible to answer question. Different lift kits are for different types of driving and terrain. While I find my OME 2" Heavy Load suspension amazingly perfect, I'm absolutely sure there will be topless rock crawling day trippers who think it is the worst suspension ever.

There's no such thing as the "best" lift kit. There are kits that are and are not designed for the kind of wheeling that you do, at different price points and completeness.

As others have said, it depends on what you want to spend, but I would say a Metal Cloak 2.5" kit is in the top 3.

I started with a 2.5" kit and went to a 3.5", but the 2.5" rode like a Cadillac. You can't go wrong with MC.

but requires different wheels due to backspace requirements (outboard shock mounts) and a new driveshaft

I changed my wheels anyway, but not because of the outboard shock mounts. I added the driveshaft, but I would think you need a new driveshaft going above a 2" lift so it's just something you have to take into account.

Ooof. I hate the ride of Cadillacs. Way too soft.

You can also very easily go wrong with MC if you're an overlander. Your gear will squish it like a pancake. MC is for rock crawling stock weight or reduced weight Jeeps. It's horrible for overlanding heavy Jeeps. It's not made for that.

Mine is pretty heavy (5700#) and I haven't experienced what you are describing and have not seen others posting about it either, so can't comment on that. Riding like a Cadillac was a figure of speech.

Probably a moot point anyway as it seems like the OP was leaning towards the Mopar kit.

TeraFlex ST2 with Falcon piggyback shocks. I have had both the Mopar and the TeraFlex and between the two, I like on and off-road quality of the TeraFlex more:

I would also vote for a Metalcloak gamechanger lift, I've got the 3.5" lift on my gladiator it rides smooth and has no problem with weight. I'm just waiting to convince the wife we need to get the gamechanger for the Wrangler lol.

I’ve found doing frankenlifts work better. I have matched shocks and springs and then different track bar and braces, lca, etc. I have 5 different brands on right now. It rides like a lifted Cadillac. No bump steer, tracks straight.
Regardless of what you do or height, change your front and rear track bars. And also install a frame side track bar brace. I went yeti
