Does anyone have experience with the Mastertop Fastback Soft Top? Unlike the bestops, it looks like the master top can be stored with the top all the way back (1st pic) and with the rear windows off (2nd pick). I'd prefer this configuration since it would allow me to go from virtually no top to full top in the event of sudden rain.

Has anyone tried mastertop? how does it compare to bestop?

Any info / experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have their summer top (tonneau cover and back window). Not the same as what you want, but they use the same premium twill as oem and quality is good as oem (I have the oem soft top to compare it to).

Hi, I have the same question as you regarding this top and it’s comparison to the besttop, also the folded back configuration in the picture. Did you end up purchasing it?

I purchased it when Quadratec listed the top as "in stock" on 4 Aug. About 2 weeks later, I called quadratec and they said it was shipping that day. The next day, quadratec listed my purchace as "back ordered". I don't know what happened to quadratec they used to be really great. But now they are definitely not the same company I knew before. Most of there stuff is on back order (and has been for over 6 months), their new order tracking system is full of gremlins, and their customer service has totaly tanked. In all, I canceled my order with quadratec and plan on calling mastertop to see if I can order directly from them (or amazon).

I finallybought the mastertop soft top via Amazon (its available on quadratec as well). Here are my thoughts if you are still considering it:
1. High quality materials... the twill was very nice and windows were thick and tinted. And, unlike bestop, there is no tacky logo on the back!
2. installation was a pain. Getting the door surrounds to fit truly tested my patience. I gave up and was ready to return it. before boxing it up, I gave it one last chance. This time, I loosened ALL the screws. This gave it enough play to line everything up correctly.
3. The softop header hooks are hard to undo. I had to use a screwdriver to unlatch them. Hopefully, mastertop will have a solution when I call their customer support.
4. Their customer support is great. There was no waiting, no phone trees and a human actually anwsered when I called them (about the door surrounds).
5. You can fold the top back.. it rest on the rear rollbar, giving open air to both front and rear seats. best of all its very minimal and doesn't look like a bulky sleeping bag on your rollbar (see pics).

Thanks for posting the review and pictures. This was the top I want to put on my Jeep. Do you also have a picture of the top fully installed? Also, how is the noise when you are driving with the top on?

Reviving this older thread.

Just purchased this top off Amazon for $850 in black diamond. Fabric should be fine since it's a secondary top to my hardtop and only planning on running it few months a year.

Like the design with minimal frame hardware and ability to fully open up for all four seats in the JLU. I forsee no need for a soft top to fold back and rest on the tailgate.

I'll have 30 days to evaluate before deciding to keep it. My only concerns are the black diamond fabric quality and ability to run a shade top underneath the top if needed.

Any feedback from others is appreciated.

Appreciate any feedback/updates from @Darthwrangler or @ItsLoader ( if you ended up getting this soft top). It seems like the JLU version doesn’t have many installs currently since there isn't much available online in form of reviews.

I ordered this top and should have it next week.

I did end up buying this top. I haven't installed it yet, but did open the box. The material quality looks good. We've had a lot of rain lately. Hopefully it will clear up in a couple of weeks and I'll install it.

Appreciate your reply!

Did you get black diamond or twill? I have a black diamond version on the way.

I just received the black diamond version of the Fastback top and will post pictures after installation. You're right, the material looks good quality and should meet my needs well.

Started the installation process but realized I received an incorrect set of mounting hardware. The 8 "door surround knobs" include 2 different lengths (4 long for the rear and 4 short for the front). I received 3 long and 5 short, so I cannot complete the installation.

Currently waiting on mastertop to send out replacement knob.

Thanks for posting about the knobs. I was going to install mine this weekend and decided to check the knobs. All 8 were the same size so I called to get the 4 shorter ones sent to me. Hopefully they'll get here by the weekend.
