Yeah, I hear and read that Cali is tight on vehicle alterations when it may affect emissions. Even bringing a vintage car to the state can be difficult, with ample hurdles (as in State Fees).Would have preferred a 2 dr. , investigated options before purchase. This ain’t the old days when I built Chevy powered CJ5. And that was expensive, the only stock (almost) part left was the body. can’t even install a different tube with an air cleaner on the end in Ca unless CARB approved.![]()
I’m in FL and existing state laws are hardly enforced (unless someone behaves themselves like a moron on public roads). Many in the police force are car guys around here. We have no annual emission testing.
Only the dummies deleting the diesels and posting bragging videos on YouTube received attention by the State Troopers down here.
Engine swaps with a clean execution are less of an issue. Re-sell value may be impacted and your insurance may not be happy with you.
Once a vehicle is 25 years old, it is EPA/DOT exempt. Federal laws no longer apply.
