I'm surprised I haven't found any yet. All the websites that have them listes for JLs are listing JK mounts. There's a lot of plastic trim thats been added to the roll bars so I doubt how well they will fit.

I have the Bartact Mount, works with soft top down. Needed a little adjustment to the outside.

I got the bartact extreme holder and it is solid. Been on some trail rides and hasn't moved a bit. I would definitely recommend it. :like:

Dry chemical extinguishers are problematic because they can cause electrical gremlins afterwards, as I understand it. Halon are safer. I keep one of each (sorry, random stranger on the highway, you're getting my dry chemical).

I bought a HalGuard.

super dumb question but why does a jeep need a fire extinguisher?

Do they catch on fire more than a typical vehicle?
I can see why you'd need one for camping.

I tell everyone they should have one regardless of what they drive. A woman a couple of hours from here burned to death after being rear-ended by a large trash truck; I doubt a handheld fire extinguisher would have saved her, but had I been there and not had one with me I would have felt absolutely terrible.

Anyway, reasons I keep one:
  • Someone's life could depend on it
  • My life could depend on it
  • I really, really want to keep my Jeep on the road, and they ain't making more of my model
  • Rollovers happen when off-roading, and those increase the risk of a fire
  • Camping
  • Why not? If I can spend $1000 on a bumper, I can spend $100 on a fire extinguisher
  • Added: I have some sketchy wiring from years of modifications, both previous owners and myself, so you just never know

(Related: don't keep yours on the very back of your roll cage. You should be able to reach it immediately from the driver's seat, not have to get out of your Jeep and fight your way through your top. You may not even be able to get out!)

Yes, it's a widely known issue. There is a facebook page dedicated to burning wranglers full of tons of photos of wranglers burning along the side of the road, in parking spaces, etc. I have two friends from my local club that both lost their JK's due to fires. That said, it's a good idea to carry a fire extinguisher in every vehicle. If you get to the fire early enough, you might even be able to put it out.
