Hey, y’all! I installed interior led’s in the jeep yesterday and of course, when you turn the ignition off the outlets use power from the battery and since the usb for the led’s is plugged into the center console the lights still stay on and I have to unplug it every time I step out of the car which isn’t good because I have a feeling I might forget it one day and it’ll drain my battery.
So which fuse do I have to move in order for it to cut power with the ignition where it continuously doesn’t suck it up?

one of the 12V sockets should be tied to ignition. then should not have to worry about battery drain. worse case can tap into the fuse box for a circuit that is only on when ignition is on.

Rear twelve volt has that option to move over the fuse off of ignition. Look on the inner fuse panel cover at the diagram for cargo 12v or something like that

What type of LEDs did you install and where are they mounted? It sounds like they plug in to the dash via USB? Why not tap into the courtesy footwell light wire or the dome light wire instead?

They are footwell rgb interior lights. So the usb is plugged into the center console inside where there's one USB port on the right.

Your Jeep, your preference, but running a loose wire and burning a USB port for a footwell light seems odd. There is a set of courtesy lights in each footwell. You can tap into the wires for each harness easily and control the behavior depending on which power wire you tap into.

See Oracle's video here:
Oracle footwell lights

Otherwise, the only OEM outlet that I'm aware of that is controlled by fuse position is the rear cargo outlet.

If you have the aux package, you should be able to tie into those leads instead of the battery.

You can even run them off a $30 harness piggybacked to the 12v. That's how my rgbw footwells are run, until I add some more accent lights in the future and move them to an aux switch.

Indeed, with all JL's and JT's ..... for 60 mins. the USB'S stay powered up after ignition is off.

At this time, to my knowledge, there is no way to set-up .... there is no programmer, etc., that will see 12v power to all USB ports going off when ignition is to off position.

Do deal with your valid concern.

There are a few ways to get this deed done...

One very simple way to do the deed, without cutting into wiring .. (Some guys/gals don't want to do this) is to just use a USB extension cable and run your USB connect wire (for your lights)to the connect in the rear cargo area. With a simple, fuse move, you can change behavior to ignition switched and your issue would be history

See below in regard to the fuse move mentioned..

Keep in mind USB is 5v! You may need to step down voltage if you tap the footwell.

@SpaceCase

OP, said he was plugged into USB port in the center console which is indicative that his USB powered lights were working fine but just not powering down with ignition off.

My post was not talking splicing into footwell lights, etc..
