im not concerned with the length i just dont want the long steel one - i got a 9" black rubber replacement and its reception is garbage (yes i still use FM and AM time to time)

is there any that work and are rubberized?

Yep I got a cheap one on Amazons and it sucks for AM and FM which I always listen to. There is one if I can fine it everyone recommended was like 26 dollars on amazon compared to my cheap ass 14 dollar one. Will see if I can find it.

The long antenna has good reception and is great as a ceiling feeler for low garages. It gets in the way when cleaning the passenger side of windshield though.

I have not herd of any shorter antennas working as well as the OEM factory antenna. I wish there was something shorter that really did work as well as the factory antenna. The trade off as a ceiling feeler verses unobstructed reach to the passenger-side windshield would be tempting if a shorter antenna works as well as the OEM antenna.

I bought the Rydonair 13” a few weeks ago. It actually works astonishingly well for me in civilization. I have no clue how it’ll work while off the beaten path, I don’t typically use am/fm while wheeling so I never thought to try.

I have that one (the 13” Rydonair) and it’s……ok. I don’t pick up AM stations at all and FM works decently for the most part. I live in the Washington DC area and when I’m in or near the city it’s great. When I’m at home (25 miles away from the city) it can get spotty in places. I’ve been thinking of plasti-dipping the factory antenna and using that one. I just hate the way it looks compared to the Rydonair. When I get away from the city I just use the Apple CarPlay and the radio station app. It’s annoying but easily doable.

I just got the Rydonair and I think it works so much better than my old stubby one.

I have a 9" and only use XM radio so it works fine.
