I recently installed a pair of the Suparee Helm 7 lights on my JLUR. This is my install and initial review. Full transparency, Suparee sent me the lights at no cost and asked that I give an honest review. So these are my honest thoughts, no pressure from them to only give a positive review.
The Setup
2018 JLUR 3.6L non-eTorque
Suparee Helm 7 Lights (found here)
Lasfit Aux Switch Bank (found here)
Waterproof Single Wire Quick Disconnects (found here)
Unboxing
Arrived in double cardboard boxes, well protected. The product box has a premium feel to it that secures with magnets. Everything was secured tightly in shaped foam. Comes with a pair of lights, mounting brackets/hardware, wire harness with built in fuses and hi/low toggle switch, extra pig tails to do your own wiring if you wish, and amber and black lens covers.
First impression, they have a high quality look and feel. There's good weight to the lights and the brackets are thick painted steel. Even though I didn't use the toggle switch it did feel great - nice snap when flipping it. Long-term it will be interesting to see how the paint and plastic holds up to road use and if the hardware will rust (not sure if it's stainless). Personal preference, I would have gone with a flat black bezel instead of the smoked chrome. I also would have liked if the black covers didn’t have a large company logo on it - prefer a clean look all around on the Jeep. I’ll paint these black in the future. Not a big deal though, just my own preference.
I liked that they included extra pig tails in case you wanted to wire your own harness. I repurposed the included harness and only used a portion of the wiring. Didn't need the provided fuses since I’m using the Lasfit Aux Switch Bank that has its own. All wires appear to be good quality, zero issues splicing and adding my own quick disconnects to my aux switch bank wires.
Installation
I secured the brackets to my Rubicon steel bumper, using a single factory bolt for each one. Hardware was simple enough to bolt in each light to the bracket. Mounting the lights was the quickest part. Running the wiring took the longest as I had to remove the air intake and route it through a few tight spots. Kept it as far away from hot engine components as best I could.
After routing everything up to the battery/aux switch box area I wired in waterproof quick disconnects in case I move or change anything. After everything tested fine I secured it all with outdoor rated zip ties. The Suparee wire harness fits snug and clean throughout the run. I routed it along the passenger side frame coming under the air box and through the factory battery bracket.
After everything was secure I tested the lights in a nearby park on a foggy night. Figured I'd take advantage of that as you can see the pattern better in fog (though not as far obviously). There are lots of reviews showing the distance so figured this would be a little different. Surprisingly the light pushed through a lot of the fog and you can see the trees and soccer goal off in the distance.
These are crazy bright and have a massive throw pattern. There's no doubt these will help on trails when looking for camp sites. After some driving they didn't move at all on the brackets. They've seen rain and 90 degree heat so far with no issues. Will post an update after a Summer of highway and off-road driving.
Thank you @SUPAREE for the opportunity to test these. Appreciate your patience while I managed a family move among other things. You have a very nice product. I'll let you know how they hold up long-term.
