Just under 3000 miles on the oil change and was just over 14000 on the vehicle, but most of those were harder miles much at higher rpms and in hot temps (80-85mph to moab and back including Colorado from Montana). Probably will stay with PUP and 3000 intervals for the next few changes..

Jeff, it is great engine oil..IMO I have been using it for many years. But I prefer 5w30. That is partially because of our extreme heat.

I have been using it since 2014 or so, whenever it actually came out. 5w20 and 0w20 in the 3.6's and 0w40 in the 6.4 never had an oil issue...

I have used PUP for a while in my other vehicles and just jest switched from 0w20 to 5w30 in my 2018 Sahara JLU 3.6 only thing I noticed so far is lil decrease in mpg but it sounds better running overall, I know some of the mileage is from switching tires at the same time, stock Bridgestone to BFG ko3 and 1.5 inch taller. If a little mileage is the only loss with heavier oil then it’s worth it for hopefully longer engine life . Got a 05 sport 4.0 with 226k on it running on PUP high mileage…

Here is my analysis. I used PUP 0W-20 and change mine every 3,000 miles. I have 53,000 miles on my 19 JLUR with a 3.6. I'm a believer in the PUP. I buy the 6 quart box from Amazon when it's on sale for around $45.

I do the 3 5 qt jug box for $71 on Amazon makes it under $5 a qt and I pour the used oil back in the jug and take it to Walmart for disposal...

If I am reading that report right…VERY high Boron content … what would cause this?

I pour my used oil on my fence row. It's actually good for the environment that way. I use less gas not having to use the weed eater, or driving to Walmart to dispose of it. Plus the fence row looks great.

PUP has Boron as an additive. It's included as part of a borate ester, which enhances the oil's anti-wear and friction-reducing properties, contributing to its "extreme protection".

I currently use Valvoline Restore and Protect with having 127,000 miles on the 3.6L…how does PUP compare? With my mileage, which is a better oil to use? Also I started using Mobil 1 Extended Life 0W-20 from 22,000 miles (mileage I bought JLUR) till about 85,000 miles. I change the oil every 3000-5000 miles and will now every 3000 miles religiously.

Agreed. Of all the variables you changed, I would guess the oil weight change is by far the biggest contributor to your mileage decrease.
