Yes—if your C1R HitchMount was purchased before February, you have the original model. While that version is still an exceptional unit, we reengineered the updated model (which began shipping in February) to deliver even more performance—about 68% brighter than the original. This update wasn’t due to underperformance, but simply our drive to push even more output from a compact form factor!

You should build and adapter for this to be used as a CHM third brake light as well. It's small enough to fit with the license plate and backup camera.

Sniffing the tears. I love my original Hitchmount but would love to have the upgrade...dang it. BTW the product has worked flawlessly. I drive the I-5 corridor and the additional "third brake light" is an additional piece of mind.

I took a screen shot of the latest version...is what circled what is upgraded in terms of the circuit board?

The strobe module has not changed. The PCB inside the pod has been changed.

That's correct, the harness does not need to be changed out. Just the HitchMount Pod and you're good to go!
