Hello
New to the wrangler forum and an looking to make first change to new 2024 2 door Willys. like most of you have done i want to swap out my willys wheels and 285/70/17 tires for 315/70/17 tires and wheels. The stock willys wheel specs are 17x 7.5 and have an offset of + 44mm the wheels. the wheels I'm looking at are 17x8.5 and have a positive offset of 12mm can anyone who better understands the relationship between offset and wheel width give me an idea how much more the new wheels will poke out farther than they do now? and will this affect steering handling or suspension component wear and tear?

The center of the wheel moves out 32mm (1.25" further). Your tires will be 30mm wider, with 15mm of that on the outside. So the outer edge of your rubber moves out 1.85". Yes it affects steering, handling, and wear, but most people accept those tradeoffs.

Does the fact that wheel is 8.5 vs 7.5 factor into the the amount of poke as well? is that 1 inch wider wheel split down the middle also.. with 1/2 inch to the inside and 1/2 inch to the outside?

Are you looking for poke or no poke? No poke (or very little) is totally an option by keeping the OEM wheels. There are 1.5" lifts for no rub when flexed. I'm using the Bilstein and it's designed to allow keeping OEM wheels (I think the key is a small spacer on the sway bar mount points in the rear)

Not really, the sidewall bulge is still past the wheel, tire centered. If the 24 Willys has the wide axles and Rubi fenders ( sorry I don’t recall 24 or 25) 35/12.50’s tread is about even with them with stock wheels. After 8.5” -1mm the tread is about even with the added XR extensions. Pics available upon request.

i believe the 24 willys has the rubi fenders but standard with axles and i prefer to keep it to flush or slight poke with the new wheels and tires im wiling to even go with the fender extensions like on the xr wrangler to keep the combo inside or just flush. pics might help

Hope that helps - 1” is 25mm, if narrow axles adjust accordingly you could get a little more negative offset to be even.

this is the stock willys offest trying to stay with this similar look with new wheels and tires. basically not a big poke fan and want to avoid that look.

ok so if im undertanding you correctly the wheel in this pic is a 17x8.5 and a positive 25mm offset and its a rubi with wider axles than a 24 willys ? so if i go with a 12mm positive offset and its the same 8.5 width it should have less poke than in your pick?

2024 wrangler rubicon w/AEV 2.5 dualsport lift
stock wheels with 1" bora spacers and 35x10 (255/85-17)this on a rubicon so they would poke out about 0.75" more than on a sport.

Yes, exactly - K02 315/70, so a 'small' 35 on the factory 17x7.5 wheel. Not all tire shops will mount a 315 on a 7.5" rim but many will and many others run this setup. Instead of spending money on wheels I put it into the lift. A no poke low CG setup for no rub with the larger tire. This is a rubi, does the 24 willys have the wide axles?

Honestly i don't think it has the wider rubi axles but not 100 percent sure..Is there a way to find out by either measuring or some other way? the thing is that i dont care for all black wheels which is what came on the willys so i was going to get new wheels anyway but its hard finding a wheel i like with similar offset to the factory wheels
