If you’ve been running (or looking at) flush mount tail lights on your Wrangler, this is a big one. We just updated our flush mount tails to V2, and it’s a serious upgrade across the board, without changing the install or price!

The biggest difference is the output. The new double-diffusion optical system gives you a much smoother, more uniform light with way less hotspotting. Brake and running lights look cleaner, more defined, and honestly just more premium overall—day and night.

On top of that, we upgraded the internals too:
  • Better surge protection (huge for builds with accessories)
  • Improved CANbus compatibility
  • Protection against over/under voltage + reverse polarity
So it’s not just a visual upgrade—it’s a more durable, reliable setup for real-world use.

And the best part:
  • Same plug-and-play install
  • Same price
  • Warranty is now 2 years instead of 1
If you liked the original version, this is basically everything refined. Check them out here: https://www.oraclelights.com/pages/v2-flush-mount-tail-lights

I still don’t get why there is a large area not utilized for lighting on those.

That large rectangular area without lighting is for the blind spot monitoring sensor.

Do you have a trade-in program for those of us that currently have V1s?

Yes, please give the existing customers an incentive to upgrade.

You mean the spot in the middle where the BLS is?
How big is that sensor?

I also see some companies selling Beauty something or other which is basically a rectangular piece of plastic that snaps in place of the one that came with these lights. They typically have some kind of design on them.

So to me it would be better if that plastic rectangle was more light or at least a red reflector.

I take it you made no changes to the blind spot monitoring? Lots of reports that it doesn't work, otherwise I might be looking at these ...

You can see on this section analysis the angle and position of the sensor is nearly identical to the original tail light. There is some reduced sensitivity due to the flush nature of the design but the sensors do work and provide both cross traffic and BSM function.

I like these at half the price. That's a lot of money for tail lights.

Any plans for a auxiliary lighting element for the blank spot for those without blind spot sensors?

Also, have the components, or assembly processes been improved? There were a significant number of issues reported on this site in the past. To be fair, I've read of none in the last year or so.

Whenever I see these lights on the road, I really like them the best. I'm currently using Morimotos, which I regard as a close second to these in appearance. However, reliability and warranty matter when you spend about $600 after tax on something that you don't really need.

At this time, we don’t have plans to add an auxiliary lighting element in that blank area for non-blind spot versions. The current design was engineered for DOT/NHTSA compliance and meets all FMVSS 108 lighting requirements. Adding lighting in that space isn’t as simple as it seems and could create issues with vehicle communication, performance and regulations, so our focus has been on refining what’s already there.

As far as improvements, yes, there have been some meaningful updates. While the outside looks the same and installs the same, the newer production units have upgraded internal components based on newer LED driver and power supply technology.

We’ve added better surge protection to handle voltage spikes, improved CAN-bus compatibility so they play nicer with modern vehicle electronics, and built in protections for over-voltage, under-voltage, and reverse polarity. All of that is aimed at making the lights more durable and consistent, especially on Jeeps that tend to have extra accessories or modified electrical systems.

You’re also right about earlier feedback. There were some issues early on, and we took that seriously. We’ve made steady improvements to both the components and how the lights are built. It wasn’t ignored, it was addressed.

We also doubled the warranty from one year to two years, which reflects the confidence we have in where the product is today.

And totally fair comparison on Morimoto, they sell a solid product. Our goal is to not only have the best look, but to back it up with reliability you can trust, especially at this price point.

Thanks for the reply.

And, as far as auxiliary lighting, I should have been more specific. An optional extra reverse light, or work light would be interesting if It was developed and offered.
