Would this be stupid?

I recently replaced my wheels with 35s and I haven't gotten a lift yet because i figured no lift and big wheels look better then a lift with no wheels. The clearance for the wheels is fine for day to day stuff, but the other day I had a full party of people and some bumps were enough to cause the wheels to rub the fenders. Would it be stupid to replace the fenders with higher ones until I can afford the lift? Is there a better solution i'm not thinking of?

pretty sure a 1.5" spacer lift is less than 200 bucks. If you can put them in yourself it would keep it affordable, and would give you the clearance you need until you save up the cash for the lift that you actually want.

A Rubicon suspension swap could be found for about that price range too and give more spring travel and a bit better shocks. Pretty easy DIY too

I have high fenders too, and some spacers FWIW.

If high line flares are part of your overall “end game” build plan, I’d go flares first. The spacer lift will work fine, but if you’re planning to replace with a suspension lift, you’re pissing away your spacer $$$. I have both on my Sahara, but I only have “little” 34’s ?

If it’s only when the Jeep is fully loaded and is only rubbing on the plastic inner fenders on bumps, I wouldn’t worry about it between now and when you get the lift.

Front or just rear? Also how often are you loaded with people. Spacer is cheap with no ride consequences. If pulling a trailer look at air bags that go inside of springs... relatively cheap plus you can pull the parade floats without looking like a dog dragging his butt.

Thanks for everyone's input so far. As for how often I'm loaded down, not often and I'll be trying to avoid it now that I know it's an issue. It sounded like it was only the rear doing it. I think I'll keep my eyes peeled for a rubicon or XR take off.
