In the last month or two, I've noticed a strange "wind" noise. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and determined its source.

The noise may occur at 60-70 mph. It often sounds like it is coming from the driver side near the windshield/roof/ rain gutter. The sound is similar to what you might get with plastic scraping/vibrating. The first time it happened, I actually pulled over and inspected underneath to see if I had picked up some plastic or if something was loose. After time, it seemed more like it was coming from the windshield/roof/door frame area. It is not continuous. At times, I can make it do it by turning the steering wheel slightly right, at above speeds. When not making the noise consistently, it will also occur when hitting those little "dips" in the highways. This would seem to indicate that the air is causing it when the Jeep "flexes" going over these little dips. My possible causes: 1. The air getting in near the windshield/door frame/roof interface, more when the Jeep "flexes." 2. Wind gets into the roof/roof panel joint, more so when the Jeep flexes.

Anyone had something similar? Thanks.

Is it possible a door frame may been “tweeked” a little while removing?

I’m sure you’ve inspected all the gaskets around the freedom panels?

I’ve only had something like this when my soft top wasn’t fully latched.

Recently on a trip to the coast I had noticed some wind buffeting noise on the drivers door panel. The door panel was vibrating from it too. To me the doors are made too weak. I plan on taking my door panel off and inspecting to see if something is loose. Maybe not related to your noise, but I think our noises are the result of weak door components.

Thanks for your thoughts. The doors have never been removed. Freedom panel is certainly suspect and on my short list to check.

That is possible. There are a lot of seams where components like the roof panels, windshield frame and door are all "movable." I certainly hope to figure it all out because when it does occur, it is pretty load and annoying.
