Winch power hook up question

I have a warn winch zeon 12S.
My question is how should i install it to the battery?
Should i use a switch or one of the Aux switches in my jeep?
Is a solenoid needed? or just straight hook up to battery?

Install it directly to the battery with a solenoid on the Red(+) lead close to the battery. Control the solenoid with a low power Aux switch (I use Aux 4).

There are other ways to install it which will work but using a solenoid allows you to keep the winch unpowered until you need it. Much less likely to get a short in a front-end collision or when fording water.
