I’m wanting to improve my basic stereo as cheaply as possible. What I want to do is install 3.5 Infinity reference in dash, install 100hz crossovers on all channels and add a sub (tapping for sub loc before crossovers). The head unit will still have to produce the bass frequencies, but will not have the actual load of driving the speakers. I’m not sure how that all will play out. My question is will the 100hz crossovers significantly lighten the load on the factory head unit enough to allow it To play louder without clipping or will it be negligible since it still has to produce those lows? Thanks in advance!

I can't answer your specific question, but I installed 4 3.5 Infinity speakers with the included high pass filters and didn't do anything else. I can turn my base 5" radio up loud enough to feel the speaker vibrations in the air and don't have any clipping.

Are you asking about adding a 100hz bass blocker capacitor to all 8 speakers?
