Why are knuckle lights never discussed or installed?

i drove a VW that had them and thought they were amazing. I wish the jeeps headlights did that. When i first switched i was so used to seeing where i was going that i had to actually get used to the jeep not sending light around turns.
our BMW had the Adaptive Lights that would point into a turn based on speed and steering wheel input; yes, distracting at first, but you adapt to it quickly and it worked fantastically (when it worked; BMW, right?).

that said, i can't imagine knuckle lights pointing where i need them when i need them, or surviving for long where we play.

Even my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek has lights that move with the steering wheel. I ordered as et of these brackets to give them a try. I am quite curious.

These would seem to be out of the way and also functional...are they hard to install? Or do they fail often?

Where I live on a dirt gravel road in MN where heavy road salt and slush covers everything 4+ months out of the year and dust and rocks the other 8 months, not to mention actually offroading thru water and mud, I can't see them lasting more then a year. I always wonder when I see stuff like this on a Jeep did the owner actually buy their Jeep for what it was made for out just for looks?

I mean, Baja Designs, for instance, are made to withstand quite a bit. Not sure you would really put it through anything worse than a typical desert racer.

On a side note, if the only people who bought Jeeps were using their Jeeps "for what it was made for" they would have had to stop selling these things a long time ago. I would also point out, there are benefits to a Jeep that doesn't involve being off-road. It's really the main vehicle I can think of where you can take the top and the doors off. That is quite appealing even on it's own.
