Hello,

I have a JK 2017 willys with a 2.5" lift kit. Currently I am using BFG 285/70R17 tires but I wanted to give my jeep a more "wide" and aggressive look. Which tire size you suggest I should use? Would a 315/70R17 be ok or the diameter variance being over 5% is too high?

Thanks

Nico

Just ask @cosine he knows!
You will have a decrease in acceleration and gas mileage, and braking performance will decrease.
Since the JK has the 5speed AT it's even harder for the transmission to be in the best gear vs. the new JL 8speed.

Just depends what you're willing to sacrifice to run those taller & heavier tires.

Thanks mate for the reply. So, not recommended to put bigger tires with my current car set-up, correct?

Alternatively which modifications I could do on the jeep to avoid possible issues with brakes and drivetrain?

Thanks!

There's many that have done that on JKs. I doubt you'd run into any serious issues since you're already running 285/70s, just be aware there will be some decrease in performance and the brakes will need more room to stop.

Thanks bro for your suggestion, really appreciate.

Clearance between tires and factory fenders will be enough with my current 2.5" lift?

Here is my long sold JKR on 315/70/16's the gearing was far from ideal. Wouldn't attempt 35's on a JK without at least 4:10 gears, 4:56 would be better. It was a 3.6 auto.

Or maybe without all these changes (gear, tires..) I could just put some spacers to have the week sticking out more from the fenders.
