I want to have steel bumpers on my 2018 JLU Rubi. I am worried about the strength of the tailgate hinges, hanging a minimum 33 inch tire on the tailgate. My old Wrangler Renegade came with OEM 'oversized' tires and the tailgate hinges warped within 2 years!
Which combination would be a better choice: replace the OEM plastic bumpers with aftermarket steel bumpers with tire carrier? Or the OEM steel bumpers plus the OEM tailgate reinforcement option?

I think it depends on how much larger than stock you are wanting to go, and if you plan on hanging any additional accessories from an aftermarket carrier. If your sticking with the 33s or even 35s, I would think the reinforced Mopar carrier would be more than enough. I know they emphasized lowering the spare for better visibility, but I'm going to wait for something aftermarket so I can mount the spare higher and is strong enough to hold 37's with some accessories. There were too many occasions offroading where my spare would nearly hit coming off a ledge.

Pretty sure the backup camera mounts to one of the lugs so as long as the tire is held from the rear and not the front the camera would be fine. If not, theres always clamps and zip ties!

From the demo I saw it definitely did not appear to mount to a lug.

Many pictures showing it mounted to the center of the wheel.
