I’m swapping in rubicon Dana 44s on my Sport. They are take offs that are trussed and already geared to 5.13 for some 38s im going to run.

I want to paint them prior to install so it looks nice and fresh. Best rattle can paint to use? I was thinking VHT roll bar and chassis paint. What do the experts say?

If there is any rust that you can't brush off, I would paint it with a rust converter primer before spraying.

I clean as well as I can and then use Rust-Oleum primer and paint. Color and gloss level as you like.

U-POL Anti Rust Protective Enamel Spray in black or Seymour cast iron restore in black. A good rust converter primer would be a good base once you knock off any lose rust.

Have used POR 15 for 20 years. Impervious to just about anything and can be brushed with on. Will look like it will as sprayed when dry

Agreed. Looks like powder coat and just as tough if not tougher. Used it on motorcycle parts a lot. Foam brush dried perfect.

I like Rustoleum Satin Black unless you know you’re not going to need to (or just won’t) touch it up, then one of the more expensive and more durable recommendations.
