Hey all, I’ve been noticing this sound coming from my jeep lately and figured I’d reach out to the experts here and see if you could help give me a forum diagnosis. So details on the jeep, 2025 rubicon x, 3.5” mc lift, 37s, 5.13 gears. just under 7k miles, but do wheel it regularly out here in AZ. Noise has been slowly getting worse/more frequent it seems. Only happens when I’m giving it gas, goes away as soon as I let off the pedal. I’m thinking it’s transfer case related, possibly chain slap from a stretched chain? Any thoughts or guesses before I drop it off at the dealer and get denied a warranty claim lol. Can hear the popping/clicking noise more at the beginning of the video before the wind starts to cover it up

Silly question, but it doesn't occur when at a stop? I.e. Neutral w/skinny pedal?

no shaking/ vibration at highway speed? thats not the tcase. the sound it to far apart for the rotation in the t-case. did you check everything after the break in period on the gears?

Nope, I can drop it in neutral going down the highway and give it throttle and no sound. It’s definitely only happening when under a load

No shaking or vibrations. Drives great other than the noise.

I did the 500 mile break in on the gears and changed fluid and everything looked good at that time. but that was back in march and have wheeled it a few times since then.

have you looked at your driveshaft? if you have a gopro or similar camera put it underneath pointing at various places mainly both ends of the driveshaft.

It’s a 2025 and under warranty regardless unless you’ve blown through the mileage already. Let it be the dealers problem.

Well fellas, I decided to drop the rear diff cover just to check things out and found some nice sized chunks out of the ring gear. I’ll be dropping it off at the shop who did the gear install on Monday. Im fairly certain this is the issue now after looking at it lol.

Oof!
Hopefully the shop makes it right for ya!

But hey! Better than a t-case/transmission issue 😀

Let us know how it goes. Will be interesting to hear if they were set up improperly or if this is a case of junk parts in the aftermarket.
