What is this disconnected tube? 2018 Sahara

I have reason to believe it has been disconnected for months. How bad is this?

Just a guess, Diff breather?? Where does the other end go?

Yup, diff breather.

It's there for water fording depth, but disconnected you have a pretty big entry for water/dirt contaminants.

If you've been in deep water I'd replace your diff fluid immediately.

Axle breather. Probably a good idea to change your differential oil in case you picked up any dirt or water, then reconnect and rock on.

Thank you. Come to think of it, I just had the axel dropped to install some RK correction pads about 2 weeks ago... they probably forgot to reconnect it.

If they forgot that, you may want to check that the FAD electrical connector is fully set and locked in.

There's a little motor on the passenger axle tube of the front axle. There's an electrical connector that connects to it.

It's the front axle disconnect (FAD) the passenger axle shaft is two pieces that the FAD connects or disconnects depending on if you're in 4wd to help with wear/mpg.

Diff breather. Plug it back on and do a diff oil change. If the oil is milky you may encounter problems but if not just fill it back up and ur good to go
