It seems metal but is it just plastic? Looking at installing an escort 9500ci concealed radar detector on it and I realized that the grille (if metal) will interfere with the radar sensor. If plastic no problem.

Not to mention unlike my last car this one has very little space behind the grille. There seem to be lots of radiators in there in front of the main one. I assume because of all the gizmos in there.

It's plastic. I'm not sure if your Escort will tolerate the heat that is in that area .... especially in the Summertime.

That is normally where the sensors are placed. They are designed for it unless it is hotter near radiator than most other cars.

I have owned many a Jeep, many trucks, many vehicles.... none as hot up in that location like the JL.

Let as know how you make out....

Stick your tongue on it? Double dog dare you...
I licked chili off it. At least I thought it was chili. Turns out it was the innards left over from a freshly smoking carcass that was road kill.

TOTAL BS - All said only for the giggles. :giggle:

Well if it has not melted the grille it should be fine . Escort makes these sensors very well and they look new after years of abuse in bmws and other cars. But only one way to find out!

Also do i need two horns? Seems like one is enough for the Twice a year I use it. ( and they do not melt up there so that is a good sign)

Each horn is a different note so you get a nicer sound.
So strictly speaking? No. You don’t.

Try a little Frank's next time? Everything is better with a little hot sauce on it...
