I had to Google that. Being from the PNW, I'd never heard of it. But it looks interesting.
I just imagine stopping at small towns along the river or the coast and exploring them. Maybe chilling with some coffee at a quiet shop and so on. Maybe bring some E-bikes with us, dock out on the bay and stay a couple days and then explore the area on a set of E-bikes.

Doesn't that sound like a horrible way to spend my mid sixties or early seventies.?

I have a friend that is in his early 80s. When he retired way back in 1991, Him and his wife spent many years on the Great Loop. He even went over and did the stretch of Caribbean Islands. He had a 40ft. sailboat. He has some great stories. I need to take him to breakfast again.

I would like a diesel trawler to do the Great Loop someday after we are to old to Jeep.
Wife and I plan to sell everything in about 3 years, get a catamaran and circumnavigate the world. When we return we then plan to get an RV and tow a built up Jeep all around North America. Eventually I would also like to do the same around the great loop. I think it’s a great idea you should look into, will be an exciting experience.

We have looked into to doing the Great Loop. We are just not ready for that slow of a life yet. We still have a bunch of Jeeping and hiking to do.

Several corporate jobs for years but finally realized I can make way more money trading stocks and stock options so I guess self employed? Yeah probably.

Just dont wait too long. It's not as slow of a life as you think. Crap is always breaking and needing maintenance on a boat. It will be almost a full time job living aboard and keeping up with maintenances. I look forward to seeing more of your Jeeping adventures and hopefully one day your boat adventures too.

Just know I am answering this standing inline to board a flight to Thailand for 4 months.

I am pretty handy. Jeep maintenance can be a full time job too. As was our class A motor home. Got to stay busy.

I will also have a travel Jeeping thread for March through June of 2026.

Have a great trip to Thailand. My wife and I went there as part of our retirement trip. The people are really friendly and your money can go a long way there.

I'm a high school dropout who spent his first six adult years in the US Army. After that I was in the graphic arts. When that industry went digital, I jumped on board for the ride. The last 20 or so years was the most rewarding. My dad tried to get me to do what he did, to drive a NYC public bus. I have Asperger's so I would have been bored to death...but I guess I would have retired at 50.
