I bought a 2020 JL and the prior owner had upgraded to from the 5” to the 7” radio. So, they lost the volume knob. When I bought it I thought this wouldn’t be a big deal, but as I’ve had it for over a month now I’m finding it to become increasingly annoying. Just a personal preference I guess. So, my question is whether or not I can swap out the AC control unit with the one that has the volume knob, even though my JL doesn’t have the auto AC. I’m not sure if that even matters, and maybe it would upgrade it to auto AC if I swap it. Anyone have experience doing this? Thanks for any insight shared.

None... but it pays well.
You may find the volume control knob even more annoying, like me. I constantly brush against it with my right hand when pushing the start button when I shut off ignition. A smaller knob would be nice.

Interesting, I don’t recall having that issue in my JT that had it, but after reading the thread @OminousSkitter shared (thank you), it sounds like too much of a PITA to try and convert. I’ll be better off buying a new head unit with a knob.

You can upgrade to the dual zone HVAC controls from a Wrangler but you need to program the vehicle to accept the upgrade and wire in a cabin and sun sensor if you don't have both installed in the vehicle from factory. We sell a kit that allows for the plug and play upgrade plus we have custom harness to allow addition of cabin and sun sensor with ease. Check out that upgrade here. If you want just the wiring to piece the kit together yourself we do sell just the harness here.
