I just ordered the Bulletproof 2 ball driver's side mount and found your post. I have this USB port from a previous project that I think will work well since I just want power not USB connectivity to the head unit (Uconnect 5"). I'll use a short USB-C cord for my Pixel2 and a USB-A to Lightning cord for iphone.Ok 68 views and no replies. So here go kinda what I'm going to do. Going out to Colorado next year from Ga. I have the Bulletproof Mounting phone and GoPro mount right now, and love it. Going to get the mount they just came out with for the passenger side dash pocket to mount a iPad. I don't like all the charging cables hanging all over the place. I've have not decided on a USB socket yet. It will be one that will mount semi flush to the bottom of the dash pocket. I have decided on cables. they will be usb to usb-c short cables. https://www.amazon.com/SUNGUY-Braid...B0784F9JP2/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid
will get a USB-C to Lighting adapter for the iPad. https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Basevs-Support-Charging-Compatible/dp/B07Y83YXYK/ref=asc_df_B07Y83YXYK/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385184478202&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3374047787658707205&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010838&hvtargid=pla-833432285179&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=77282054623&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=385184478202&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3374047787658707205&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010838&hvtargid=pla-833432285179

Ive looked at doing a RAM mount but would still have to get a adapter from 67 designs to go to the 1" ball on the RAM.

I just now got most of the stuff I need to do mine.I have A passenger side Bulletproof mount on the way. Just re-released yesterday. I also ordered a Samsung 8" tablet and ram X mount with a 67 designs adapter. I did find A dual usb port without lights in it for the dash pocket and some short usb cables.Write up in the DIY section: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/diy-add-usb-port-into-upper-dash-tray.44515/
@Bardog The OP in this thread did intercept the USB feed for a different purpose, but I suspect that if you were creative, something similar could route the USB to the top of the dash.I'm going to try to figure out how to pull the CarPlay plug-in from the console area to the top of the dash, too. I'm surprised (or maybe I missed) that nobody has yet tried to do the same with the CarPlay/Android input.
Thanks a lot, Will_Jeep. I contacted him with some questions.@Bardog The OP in this thread did intercept the USB feed for a different purpose, but I suspect that if you were creative, something similar could route the USB to the top of the dash.
