@Wraith , as @Poordad stated, Chris would be a good resource (or the videos). He's lived in his Ursa Minor for over 100 years...just kidding, but probably has about 1,500 nights in it. He's had very minor work done to it, maintenance really (you'll see that in the videos), and he did roll his Jeep onto its side which scratched the top. Otherwise it appears to have held up remarkably well.

If they built them for two-door Jeeps I'd have bought one.

I have been following Chris for a long time. He is from my neck of the woods and I picked up his channel pretty early on and my wife and I have been watching ever since. Even have a sticker of his Jeep on my tailgate table. He is part of the reason I have had continued interest in the J30 top.

I would say I am average height wise (6 foot) so there should be plenty room. I do have concerns about water leaks and squeaks. I can imagine on long trips any combination of those factors would make things challenging. Wind noise is a non issue, but the other previously mentioned issues do raise some concerns. I live in FL and we get a good deal of rain and being as the Jeep would not fit in the garage with the J30 on it would be living outside. Not really ideal.

I have to say though, even with some growing pains it seems like the absolute best option for what I want out of my Jeep. I have zero interest in a RTT and would prefer to have it all integrated into the Jeep seamlessly and the J30 fits that need. I am seriously contemplating submitting the deposit and going for it. I think the color matched top would look great. Decisions. Decisions.

if you are tall this is the best option for roof sleeping as it uses the full length and why i went to this.
If you don’t mind me asking how tall are you? I’m 6’4ish, 250# and worry about room up there.

I ordered mine in early November and I SHOULD be getting it early August.
Confirm that they still do painted tops. I didn't look hard, but I remember seeing black textured or white.

I moved from PA back in 2011 to FL so not technically my backyard any longer lol. I appreciate the offer. Seeing it in action would certainly help. I'll reach out to them this afternoon and report back.

Do you have anything special being done to yours or is that just standard optioned lead time? I'm thinking the textured black with the color matched roof shell might look good. I worry about too much Nacho color making it look more like a schoolbus. I would have to get a sticker for the front portion of the camper that reads "cool bus" lol.

I've never had any leaks and my top was on from April 2015 until February of this year. My top was #89 and as mentioned before held up well. I'm 6' and fit time up top with the wife with plenty of room. There is an Ursa Minor facebook group too as well when Jon and one of the workers Chris post there as well.

Options,, get the map pouches overhead and that's so handy for all your paperwork. USB ports up front allow you to run a charge cord and stick the wires phone in the overhead map pocket.
Definitely get them up top in the sleeping area and recently they came out with the storage pockets up top as well, those can also be installed at a later time if you don't get in the initial order.

I didn't go for a driver window since you can't see out of it anyway. I won't have any in my next top as I keep things stored between the roll bar and window area. Some people like then for cross ventilation but it does no good while sleeping up top. You can get RotoPax inserts in place of them and plan to have that on the passenger side as I have my chairs and other items fit just perfect on the driver side.

Standard lead time. They're swamped and these things aren't easily mass produced.

Anyone in the Northern CA area have one of these? I’d love to check one out in person.

I agree on the solar. My ARB drained my battery after sitting for six days and set to medium battery protection. I learned quickly the importance and need of having a jump pack in the Jeep. It now lives under the rear floor just in case. I have no experience with installing a solar setup but the information I've seen seems straightforward for the most part.
