Unknown soft top strap, what's it for?

Got this strap in the soft top package that came with the dual top group. Anyone know what it's for? It's an elastic loop with a "female" button end.

Got this strap in the soft top package that came with the dual top group. Anyone know what it's for? It's an elastic loop with a "female" button end.

That’s so you can roll your rear window up and hang it without removing it. It snaps into the top of the rear window area.

That’s so you can roll your rear window up and hang it without removing it. It snaps into the top of the rear window area.
Thanks for solving the mystery. That makes total sense. Was told by others that it was a carry over from JK and not used.

Thanks for solving the mystery. That makes total sense. Was told by others that it was a carry over from JK and not used.
There’s some speculation about that actually. The JL rear windows don’t roll up,as easily, due to the more rigid side material. Some say you can’t roll the rear windows, others say you can. I’ve tried it myself, but doesn’t roll very tight. It was tough to get that strap around the roll. I wouldn’t recommend it, but FWIW, I do have those straps installed anyway.

I probably won't use it myself because I think it is a poor design also. But it does line up and it can be executed, so I'm going with that as the original intention of the strap until I see a better explanation.
