Jeep Wrangler JL Uniclutch IMG_2445

Got my new clutch in. I’m rolling the dice on a new product. I should be ordering my Atlas tomorrow and both will install at the same time.
If anyone is interested in specific information about the uniclutch let me know and I’ll get the photos, measurements, etc. This will be my first clutch swap.

Are you reusing the OE flywheel like they suggest or using something else?

I’m using the OE flywheel. I’m at about 8,100 miles. I tried corresponding with them about an aftermarket flywheel but couldn’t articulate myself well. Since it bolts to the flywheel it seems irrelevant if the flywheel friction surface is worn or not.

What do you mean you couldn't articulate yourself? Was their customer service not able to help you, or figure out what you need?

I’ve never done a clutch install, much less a custom fit. My best guess was that I needed to compare an aftermarket flywheel to the OEM and compensate for any depth differences with different spacers and possibly mounting points.
At first they told me 2022’s were not compatible (but 18-21 JL’s were). Then they said an expert installer would need to be consulted. At that point I let it go and decided to stay OEM.
I think I had the sales team and they weren’t consulting a technical expert.

@Some Random Guy ... I'm an average level car guy but play in the muscle car, hot rod, diesel, and Jeep world. I've never heard of Uniclutch but suspect it's an import thing?

What made you want to try them on your build? At first glance it would seem counterintuitive to try a product which hasn't been tuned specifically for the JL application, especially since Centerforce went through a lot of trial and error on their product, and Advanced Clutch Tech put a lot of effort into getting theirs right as well.

Not knocking your choice, simply curious and exicted to see your outcome. Any idea when you'll be able to get it installed? I saw you're waiting for the TC...

*I'd never heard of Advanced Clutch Technology either, and they are big in the import world, but ended up going with their clutch for my JL. I was kinda proud of myself for stepping out of my Centerforce hot rod comfort zone and trying something new. Worked out for me pretty well.

The company is a spin-off from Australia. Their concept is to provide a highly standardized product and it is carried by Napa. I nabbed it with the 20% off new year sale and couldn’t find reviews yet because the product just recently launched. I figured I’d be the test case. The install was a lot easier for me to understand and helped me gain confidence to take the dive.

So... in my pea brain I'm thinking the following:

"Spin-off" and "recently launched" = Do what now?

"highly standardized" = fits all generally, fits none perfectly... (never acceptable for MY application)

I wish you the best but I'm highly skeptical and I can't wait for your reviews. Please keep us updated!

Good luck, but I think you’re in for a rough time. It took Centerforce and ACT years to develop JL specific offerings. CF went through several iterations and had to retrofit JK hydraulics. McLeod also had to make custom hydraulics. Only the ACT is known to work with the stock operating system.

Do let us know how you fare.

Any results yet? If the specs are accurate, then it will take about 1/4" of travel to release, which is too much. The result will be the clutch engaging/disengaging at/near the floor. Good luck...

Atlas build date confirmed for the 29th, so I’m waiting until March to do it all in one shot. When/if it engages as you say I’ll be back to let you guys know.
