Uconnect 3 phone question

Does the radio/Sirius need to be on to use a paired phone on a Uconnect 3/5" system? I don't want the stereo on all the time but I want to be able to make and receive phone calls.

Hi, yes- the radio does need to be on to allow for phone calls to be made and received.

Actually it doesn't. I just found out when my wife and I went for a ride. I told her to shut the radio off and call me on her phone - only mine was paired with the Jeep. Screen lit up and told me it was a call from my wife and the phone worked perfectly. She hung up and I tried calling her and that worked too. Maybe the 2020 version has some changes made that allows this.
