I never thought I'd write this post but considering the current situation at Jeep I think it's time to get some insight from the forum on this topic.

I'm looking to place an order for a two door 3.6L manual soft top willys next year.

With so many issues with the manual transmissions, the recall, and Jeep's move towards electrification for 2025, I've been hearing rumors that the two door along with the manual transmission and even the 3.6L engine will get axed soon.

In the case it does, I'd probably get the two door bronco instead of a four door Jeep. A two door soft top is non negotiable for me. I can be flexible with the type of transmission and the engine.

This will be my daily driver. Live on a mountain where it rains a lot, nothing is flat, and roads are broken. I occasionally do soft to moderate trails to the river or beach.

I've heard the 2dr broncos (the recent ones) have more space, are an easier ride, and have better gas mileage than the Jeep. They eliminated the base model.

How easy is it to open and maintain the bronco soft top vs jeep? I will be riding with no top everytime I can daily, so long as it doesn't rain, so that's important to me.

Does anyone here have experience with the two that can give me their opinion? How is reliability?

Hands down I'd prefer the Jeep anyday...but in a 4 door Jeep vs 2 door bronco situation I'd lean Bronco.

I didn't get much past this part of your post. The 3.6L isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The country’s infrastructure is not/will not be ready to get rid of ICE anytime soon.
They may dump the 2 door and they’re killing the MT all on their own. But gasoline engines will be here for a while.

You’re better off asking Bronco specific questions on a Bronco forum.
That's not a slam, or meant to be rude. The Bronco folks know about Broncos.

If you’re looking to order next year but citing 2025, I don’t see the issue with getting a 2dr Jeep. The clutch recall has been addressed, Electrification is not Jeep specific, It’s a daydream la la land plan.

Have you seen the massive amount of issues with the Broncos? There’s been a lot.

I wouldn’t base a purchase off of rumors, especially ones that wouldn’t have an impact on my purchase.

I hear the 2 door manual Bronco is pretty nice. I would consider one. The clutch recall on the Jeeps is overblown in my opinion. I have a 2020 with no updates and I love it. But it seems Jeep is intent to ruin them with software updates. I would honestly wait and see what happens but if a good deal on a Bronco appeared I would grab it. You could always resell if Jeep gets their act together.

The 2 dr “Heritage” edition looks pretty good ( as opposed to the ugly 4 drs) and 330 hp available. Would be considered if 2 dr shopping, IFS and all.

This. Think the 2.7L in a 2-door Bronco with 410 lb-ft of torque would be fun as hell.

And while I'm still not too crazy about the 4-door Wrangler's looks, it's grown on me a little from hanging around here. The 4-door Bronco is even worse to my eyes, but I think their 2-door looks f'ing awesome..

Yep- I find the 4dr to long, unbalanced and ugly. The “Heritage” 2dr does remind me of my 69 and it wasn’t cheap getting comparable HP out of the 302 , and just a 3spd auto ( after C4 swap) . Regrettably Ford is as bad as Jeep— the 3.0 requires a 4dr, like a Jeep V8 does. Both High Dollar. The 4dr Wrangler looks much better than the 4dr Bronco IMO and begrudgingly accepted to get a V8.

Thank you. It sounds good to hear that. I will be ordering a 2025. I actually haven't heard of the issues the Bronco faces. My friend has a basic 4 door entry level bronco and hasn't had problems yet, but they don't make those anymore.

The 2 door Bronco only comes in a hardtop, and they've had a lot of problems with the hard top. Soft tops exist aftermarket.

Bronco manual trans is made in China and the quality shows. Jeep manual trans is good, but the clutch is awful. Cheaper and easier to fix the clutch.

The Bronco is a nicer ride, and the 2 door is just better. Still a proper 2 door but has more storage.

Unless something has changed, the 2 door Bronco is hardtop only
They offer it now two top, at least you can order one like that. Check Ford's website. Regardles, bestop sells an aftermarket soft top for the Bronco as well.

Thank you for that information. I did not know the Bronco manual trans was made in China. China = cheaper parts at a horrible quality, at least in engineering.

Get the manual, and fix the clutch. Got it!

Probably the right call. I had an order for a 2 door Bronco, but the top issues and transmission issues. Ended up with a 4 door Jeep instead.

I am not really interested in off roading but I have done a lot since I got my jeep.

I just love the jeep!

No jeep = no off road vehicle for me. A KIA Sportage would do fine.
