The sound of my turbo is like shaking a tin can with marbles. Once the waste gate closes, it’s super quiet. I’m going to try the shine technique to see if it works.

What is the shine technique? My waste gate rattle at 1500 rpm’s is driving me insane.

I know this is a really old thread, but someone recently posted about something similar in the EcoDiesel section of the forum, same sort of thing, warm engine, when you go for higher RPMs and let off the throttle, the engine makes a weird rattling sound.

Was able to replicate it with my EcoDiesel and posted on YouTube...

I'm wondering if it isn't a turbo or (turbo) air intake related thing for everyone.

I have a couple videos where you can faintly hear the rattle/tick noise. The videos are kind of long, but you can hear the noise intermittently throughout.

Sounds like a normal diesel engine to me! 🤷‍♂️

Day after day, the 2.0Ts seem more and more like the EcoDiesels. I wonder if they aren't just heavy clunky noisy engines, and then with the turbo have similar symptoms and sounds to the EcoDiesel?

Yeah, mines still doing it even with replacing the snap ring, changing spark plugs at 30k, etc. It may just be a quirk, as otherwise it runs like a top.

Check the clip under the arm that attaches to the turbo. If there's any real play, replace that clip.

Anyone ever replace the turbo actuator?

We just bought a 2021 Sahara with the 2.0turbo. Its a very nice jeep in a tuxedo, but the engine on decel sounds like a can of marbles rolling down the hill. I'm really getting annoyed with it. Everything on the turbo actuator linkage seems tight. I can't see any of it creating a rattle. It has me wondering if the actuator has too much play in its mechanism. There are a ton for sale online, but I can't find anything about anyone ever replacing one.
