I was trying to swap out my antenna with a Ronin flexible antenna. Does the base in the picture come out and the new antenna screw in?

Looking closely at your picture, it shows that you already have an male adapter screwed into the base.... perhaps from another aftermarket antenna?

Yes, your stock antenna base indeed has a threaded female on it that an antenna can screw directly into.

You would remove that existing adapter and then screw in your antenna into the female in the base that you just removed the adapter from. Screw antenna in carefully and slowly so you do not cross thread it.

See pic of a JL antenna base below that shows you there is a threaded female on it... then watch the video below...

My base is a female thread. Aftermarket antenna, needed an adapter still.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure if the male end was factory original. I tried to see if I could unscrew it out but it’s in there real good. I didn’t want to break it. I will force it and see what happens 😂

Thank you! I will see if I can force the male end out of the base.
If you can find two nuts that fit on the base, screw one on, and "lock or jam" it with the other. Using a wrench on the BOTTOM nut, unscrew the adapter.

If you don't care about the adapter, vice-grips are faster...
