I've had the same issue with the Trailpax etching my clearcoat/paint with the rubber feet on the bottom. Eventually I'll have to get my hardtop repaired because of it.

Anyhow... Does anyone have any experience with the American Adventure Lab - Spare Tire Platform? It's a very expensive option but one I'm also considering....

Somebody Please ! Help !

I purchased a Pak Rax ( Model: TR-PR-JL-S )

I have a 2023 Rubicon JL 4XE

ISSUE: After mounting the PakRax several hundred times, I can not get this thing to mount to the jeep completely securely.
There is always a little bit of give and movement at the "lower hooks" that go under the edge of the hard top roof (side)
This creates a knocking sound inside the the Jeep while driving... Extremely annoying
I try to get this thing tight against my jeep, but can't get it to not move... it's pissing me off

In addition, This mount has also damaged my hard top,.. with the rubber shock absorbors rubbing the paint off of my hard top !
Now I have to add protective rubber tape in the areas of contact to protect my jeep from further damage !

QUESTION: Is anyone experiencing these issues ? (especially the loose fitting Rax mount)
Is there some kind of trick to mounting this thing that I'm missing ?

Needless to say,.. I'm Not a happy "wheeler" with this product.. they need to re-engineer this mount (IMO)

Any insight or information, much appreciated, thanks

HI there, I know this is a bit dated…. But did anyone come up with a solution for mounting the Pak Rak securely. I picked up a set and used them and they basically vibrated the paint off my hardtop. :-(. I still like the idea of if anyone has a setup that works (with pictures and install instructions please!) please post…..

I've encountered the rubber "pucks" rubbing against the side of my hardtop due to vibrations, and also paint scratches that occurred when I first was learning about mounting the paxrax to the Jeep...

The only remedy I devised to protect my hard top and body paint from vibration abrasions
is to use "auto door protection tape" - it's a removable thick rubber film type tape that comes in rolls. (amazon)

I cut pieces for any area that comes in contact with the rax.... the rain rails, the side body area (right where the hard top meets the jeeps body), and where the rubber pucks come in contact with the hard top.

It's preparation that's a little time consuming
but, It's a hack that actually works
