I used to run this one from harbor freight on my 04 rubicon with 35” spare.

https://www.harborfreight.com/autom.../300-lb-capacity-atv-cargo-carrier-69858.html

I remember it having a little wobble, but nothing crazy. Took it on tons of road trips and wheeling quite often. I liked it because of the way the frame bends upwards. I never had to worry about it dragging the ground. If you needed more clearance with a bigger tire, you could get a 2” extension sleeve to move it away from the tire a bit more.

Is anyone using a trailer hitch cargo carrier, similar to this one: https://www.quadratec.com/p/quadrat...jumbo-cargo-storage-bag-2-inch-receiver-hitch

If so, I'd love to know experience with weight distribution, wobble/wiggle, fit with oversized rear tire (37), etc.

Thanks!
That looks nice and about half the price as the the ROLA brand one I was going to order. I really wish it had a riser on it. Also, I read (don't remember where) you loose like half of the cargo capacity if you add an extension? I was going to go to the rack store and talk to them. I'm not running 35's but I am pretty sure I still would have issues with the spare.

Yeah, with my 37's, i'm wondering if it's worth it, or if I will lose too much space. I see i can get a hitch extender, but wondering how that messes with weight balance.

I would definitely speak with an expert loosing all your cargo would suck. I don't plan on staying on 35's for ever. What would be perfect and I wish someone would make an extension the same size/shape as those hitch stingers that you could attach a cargo basket to, they fit 37's and would still allow a nice departure angle w/protection.

Ideally I'd have a roof rack on my hardtop. Unfortunately I'm running a slantback roof. While it looks cool, it doesnt have the gutter/rain guards that the roof racks hook on to.... and i'm not willing to drill into my roof.
I'll save roof rack option questions for that type of hard top for another thread :)
